A well preserved example of a sought after Japanese performance saloon, further developed and correctly maintained whilst in the UK. The Evolution VI's changes mainly focused on cooling and engine durability with a larger intercooler, larger oil cooler, new pistons and some minor bodywork tweaks. The GSR package included 5-speed manual transmission, gauge pack, AYC (Active Yaw Control), anti-lock brakes, Recaro front bucket seats, auto air-conditioner, double-DIN audio, power windows and Brembo brakes. Presented here in Icelle Blue, this 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR was imported from Japan and remains in largely original specification.
Fitted with the 2-litre turbocharged 4G63 engine and all-wheel drive, with this example understood to be producing substantially more power. The car's history includes substantial records from its time in Japan with more recent UK servicing carried out by specialists in 2018, 2021 and 2023 which included the timing belt with only 10,000km since. Looking very period correct with RalliArt mudflaps, our vendor advises a cosmetic refresh with a repainted front and rear bumpers help lift the appearance of this rally legend.
The Evo VI's candle burned brightly for a mere two years before being replaced in March 2001 by the Evo VII, however for many, the Evo VI remains the pinnacle of Mitsubishi Evo design for its style, aggression and usability.
