Aston Martin built just 193 left-hand-drive DB5 saloons for the North American market, with four of those subsequently converted to Radford Shooting Brakes. This example of the silver screen star heralds from the final year of the 1963 to 1965 production run. Originally finished in Autumn Gold over a Beige Connolly leather interior, a copy of the factory build sheet records that this car rolled out of the gates at Newport Pagnell equipped with optional Normalair air conditioning, chrome wire wheels, and Britax seatbelts.

According to the accompanying British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) Certificate, this DB5 holds a 9 April 1965 build date before it was sold via the San Francisco-based British Motor Car Distributors to its first owner, Mr Hazen Pierce, of Sacramento, California. Come 1976, chassis DB5/2072/L had moved to the East Coast of America, where it was acquired by a Mr Morrisey. Under his care, this car claimed second place in that year’s Lime Rock Concours gathering in Connecticut, a result recorded in the Aston Martin Owners Club registry. Having been repainted black, this car next changed hands in early 1981, when it was purchased by Mr Keith Brown of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The Aumann Collection bought the DB5 in August 2018 and had it imported to Germany before the exterior was changed to the current classic Silver Birch hue. Notably, DB5/2072/L retains its matching-numbers 3,995-cc straight-six engine, which is rated at 290 PS and paired with a five-speed manual ZF transmission. Both door hinges are also correctly numbered to indicate that this example has not been significantly altered during its 60-year life.

Complemented by a BMIHT Certificate, a copy of the factory build record, and history file, this timelessly styled icon of the 1960s would make for a classy addition to any discerning collection.
