1980 Ferrari 512 BB 3rd hand, same owner for 35 years Ex-Pozzi then Auvergne Moteurs 23 000 € of invoices in 2015 French car registration document Chassis no. 34469 Taking over from the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 BB, presented with great pomp and ceremony at the 1971 Turin Motor Show, the Ferrari BB 512 evolved in depth while retaining the DNA of its ancestor with a 12-cylinder flatbed "boxer" engine placed behind the driver, hence its name "Berlinetta Boxer". Originating from the competition, its powerful 4,943 cc engine developing 360 hp provided better torque and power delivered in a smoother way. From a purely aesthetic point of view, the BB 512 looks like a bomb as soon as it comes out.

Designed by the famous Pinifarina, its lines differ slightly from those of the 365 GTB/4 BB. More elegant, thanks to a system that guides the air flow to the engine, its lines are comparable to those of a prototype and haven't wrinkled a bit! In the end, only 929 units of the 512 BB will leave the Maranello factory until it is finally replaced by the fuel-injected version. The car we present to you was delivered new on January 5, 1981 by the Ferrari agent Monaco Motors Cavallari as attested by the original warranty booklet of the car. Its first owner, the captain of industry of Monaco, sold his Ferrari just two years after acquiring it.

It is thus in January 1983 that the Parisian art dealer Thierry Salvador buys this Ferrari 512 BB which he will also keep for two years before its current owner buys it in his turn in February 1985 from the Charles Pozzi dealership in Levallois-Perret. This BB has therefore been a third hand for 35 years, owned by a passionate Breton collector but forced to part with it to finance the purchase of the yacht of his dreams. The chassis n°34469 that you discover in these pages has always been well maintained, first at Pozzi, as evidenced by the numerous invoices issued in the name of the second owner, then at the Ferrari specialist that we no longer present, Philippe Gardette (Auvergne Moteurs).

The car's file is also accompanied by several maintenance invoices from his home, the last of which dates back to 2015. It amounts to more than 23,000 €, including the total repair of the electrical harness, the change of the manifolds and the Ansa exhaust line, the change of the timing belt, the overhaul of the air conditioning compressor, the complete cleaning of the engine, etc... The meter then showed just 89,000 km and only counts a little more than 4,000 additional km since this last major repair. In 2002, Philippe Gardette replaced the sodium exhaust valves, which are considered very fragile, with lead-free valves.

The 4 Michelin XWX tires in 225/70 VR 15 were recently changed and fitted on the original Cromodora rims in perfect condition. The aviation brake hoses have also been installed recently, for a safer and more durable braking. Unique feature to our knowledge and confirmed by Philippe Gardette, our model is equipped with a 512 BB LM gearbox mounted when it belonged to Thierry Salvador. The handling of the gearbox is identical to that of a road version, but the lubrication and the gearbox oil cooling system are specific.

Aesthetically speaking, this Ferrari has always kept its original Nero colour, which was refreshed a few years ago, and has kept its original interior with a nice patina, including the beige Daytona leather seats, the Nardi steering wheel and the Pioneer radio as well as the tool kit in its compartment. This desirable 512 BB with its complete and unique history deserves the attention of fans of the genre. Let's bet that at this reasonable estimate, this true "road prototype" adds a new chapter to its history.
