The French manufacturer's second attempt at the 'super mini' concept, the Peugeot 205 arrived in 1983, winning What Car's 'Car of the Year' award in 1984 and being voted 'Car of the Decade' by Car magazine in 1990. The model was an instant hit, its success effectively turning around Peugeot's fortunes; indeed, some measure of this may be gained from the fact that the 205 was never significantly face-lifted during the course of 15 years in production. The 205 was available as a three- or five-door hatchback, a two-door convertible (styled by Pininfarina) or as a commercial van. Over the course of development, a wide range of four-cylinder petrol engines was offered ranging from 954cc up to a 1.9 litres in the 205 GTi 1.9 'Hot Hatch'; there was also a trio of diesels.

In 1989 Peugeot commenced its ongoing association with the Roland-Garros stadium in Paris, home of the French Open tennis tournament; the first models to feature in the programme being the Peugeot 205 and 405 estate cars. Ever since, all the special Roland-Garros series have featured a visual identity inspired by the world of international tennis.

Dating from 1992, this Peugeot 205 Roland-Garros Cabriolet was originally finished in green (as can be seen in the engine compartment) like all the cars in the series but has since been repainted blue. Interior has been changed and black leather seats have been fitted. The car has belonged to the vendor since 2013 and it is worthwhile noting that the soft-top's hydraulic motor was repaired in 2015.

Although representing a good opportunity to acquire a relatively little used (108,000km) Peugeot 205 Roland-Garros Cabriolet, the car does require some work, especially to the coachwork, to return it to presentable original condition. Offered with a French Carte Grise, valid contrôle technique and some invoices.

Peugeot 205 Roland-Garros cabriolet 1992

Châssis n° VF320DKD224881710

  • Édition limitée sur le thème du tennis
  • Aux mains de l'actuel propriétaire depuis 2013
  • 108 000 km d'origine
