This 2005 Porsche Carrera GT presents beautifully in GT Silver Metallic—the iconic presentation color for this ultimate Porsche—with a rich dark gray interior and is one of just 604 imported into the United States during its production run of 2004-2007. Racing has always been deeply entrenched in the Porsche soul. Since its inception, Porsche has used motorsports competition as a means to quickly develop and improve its automotive creations. The Carrera GT is probably the single best example of this cross-pollination process between a race car and an exotic street car.
The platform for the Carrera GT is an actual carbon-fiber monocoque chassis derived from Porsche's Le Mans GT1 Prototype racing car, as is the pushrod-activated inboard suspension system with ground effects underfloor and diffuser. Likewise, the 5.7L V-10 is a Porsche-designed Formula 1 engine which produces 612 HP at 8,500 RPM and is placed longitudinally amidships for ideal weight distribution. The Carrera GT’s carbon-ceramic brakes are backed by its unique carbon-ceramic clutch, the only production car ever to receive this exotic piece of equipment.
The racing DNA even transfers over to the small details, such as the laminated birch- and ash-wood gearshift knob, the same type fitted on the legendary Porsche 917, here designed to row the 6-speed manual transmission. But to characterize the Carrera GT as strictly an ultra-high-performance exotic with a purpose-built racing-car soul would be overly simplistic, as this car just oozes sophistication and elegance. The body style has been recognized by critics as one of the most beautiful shapes coming out of the decade. The ride quality has been described as superb.
The interior cabin is fitted with soft leather, a concert-quality Bose audio system, global navigation, climate-controlled air conditioning and tasteful aluminum accent trim. This car was cared for by the original owner until 2015 and has been driven only 2,456 miles. Don’t miss this opportunity to own what is regarded by many as the ultimate Porsche ever built.
