French title - Matching numbers, original interior - Engine rebuilt, body respayed - Superb body color, futuristic design When the Lamborghini Espada four-seater appeared in 1968, the trend in offering 2+2 coupe versions had already been established by the builders of powerful GTs. Inspired by the Marzal, the Espada was a real four-seater designed at Bertone by Marcello Gandini, like the Miura, and equipped with the powerful four-litre V12 "in-house" engine with 325hp.

Compared with the contemporary Ferrari 365 2+2, the Espada was paradoxically more sporting despite having generous width and length which were concealed by the aptness of its proportions and height. For 1970, the Espada was given new brakes and a power hike of 25hp as well as a less futuristic instrument panel and a much better finish in the passenger cell. Having reached maturity, 228 units of the Espada were sold in 1970 and 198 were sold in 1971. The third series, revealed in 1972, boosts sales to reach in 1973, 187 series 3 made. The improvements were: new dashboard, power steering, twin alternators and modified suspension.

Faster than a Ferrari 400, 350 hp on the bench, it is a much more exclusive automobile. 1217 Espada were built all together which was the Lamborghini best seller between 1968 and 1978. Our example was driven only 1300 km in the past 10 years and was always maintained and kept in a dry garage. The head gaskets have been replaced in 2006 by Roger Salvatore and the bodywork and the paint has been done by the garage Dessaigne in 2005. The leather seats and the headliner are original and in good condition but the wool carpeting has been redone some time ago. It is fitted with air conditioning and a battery switch. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FRENCH TITLE HAS BEEN LOST.

A DUPLICATE HAS BEEN REQUESTED BY THE SELLER TO THE FRENCH ADMINISTRATION. IT WILL BE DELIVERED TO THE NEW OWNER SHORTLY AFTER THE SALE AS SOON AS IT IS AVAILABLE. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE CAR IS SOLD WITHOUT TECHNICAL INSPECTION. Photos © Christian Martin
