In April 2010, Ferrari announced the 599 GTO, a road-going version of the track-only 599XX. Reviving the revered GTO model designation from its rich past, the new GTO delivered staggering performance with its 661 HP V-12 engine, an uprated derivative of the engine that powered the Enzo supercar just a few years earlier. Power-to-weight was similarly impressive, with the 599 GTO weighing almost 100 kilograms (220 pounds) less than a standard 599 GTB, yielding acceleration from rest to 100 KPH (62 MPH) in under 3.3 seconds and a top speed approaching 210 MPH. Pininfarina styling features comprehensive aerodynamic tweaks, and magnetorheological suspension provides amazing grip to match.
Production of the 599 GTO was limited to just 599 cars, reserved exclusively for Ferrari's top customers. Offered with just 2,720 miles at the time of writing, this 2011 Ferrari 599 GTO is one of just 125 examples exported to the U.S. market. Adorned by a “Ferrari 31 Formula 1 World Titles” dedication plate and iconic front-fender Scuderia shields, this 599 GTO is visually stunning, matching the blinding performance delivered by its naturally aspirated 6.0L/661 HP V-12 engine mated to a paddle-shifted F1 automatic gearbox and breathing through a Titanium exhaust system. Carbon ceramic disc brakes with silver calipers deliver stopping power.
Colors are gorgeous, featuring Rosso Fuoco paint with a Grigio Silverstone Opaco roof treatment and hood stripe. The Nero Alcantara interior features electric Recaro seats and extensive carbon fiber trim, including the dash inserts, engine covers, headlight buckets, front splitter, door sills, wheel cups and trunk compartment, plus black Ferrari “Cavallino Rampante” embroidered motifs. A Ferrari manettino and yellow 10,000 RPM tachometer carry through the competition theme of this 599 GTO, which rides on a set of black 10-spoke wheels.
As Ferrari’s fastest road model when new, capable of besting even the formidable Enzo, this 599 GTO is exceedingly rare, stunning in both visual and visceral terms, and stands as one of the finest models unleashed from Maranello.
