Only the revered Ferrari 250 GTO and 288 GTO models had been bestowed with the
Gran Turismo Omologato
nomenclature prior to the arrival of the hard-edged 599 GTO in 2010. It was, in effect, the road-legal iteration of the track-only 599XX and it was claimed to be the fastest production Ferrari ever built at the time of its debut.
A naturally aspirated, 6.0-litre V-12 that delivered some 670 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed automated-manual transmission dominated a package that was, like the 599XX, almost 100 kilograms lighter than the standard 599. Accordingly, the car lapped the Fiorano test track a second faster than the revered Enzo, from which its engine was derived. The top speed was 335 km/h and it could reach 100 km/h in under 3.3 seconds
In total just 599 examples of the 599 GTO were produced for

worldwide, ensuring that the model would always be sought after by collectors and dedicated enthusiasts. This car, chassis 174721, was delivered new via official Ferrari dealer Niki Hasler AG of Basel, Switzerland to a gentleman of the same city. It was finished in the elegant and very rare “Extracampionario” combination of Blu Scozia with a Grigio Silverstone Opaco (matte) roof over a Nero interior with full Alcantara lining, including on the headliner.
The Ferrari was configured with a generous specification list, with key features including a roll cage and Scuderia Ferrari emblem “delete” for the front wings. Extensive application of carbon fibre includes fitment on the dashboard and rear bench, also on the exterior with the front panel kit, interior door sills, and engine compartment. In October 2010, the 599 GTO was certified by Ferrari Classiche. In November 2014, the Ferrari joined The Tailored For Speed Collection after being acquired from Niki Hasler AG.
Its accompanying warranty book notes that the 599 GTO has been exclusively maintained by its retailing dealer, with the most recent annual service taking place in February 2024 with 12,144 kilometres recorded. It is accompanied by its Ferrari owner’s manual and warranty book. Wearing a particularly striking livery, showing only 12,271 kilometres at the time of cataloguing, and with a short ownership chain of Swiss caretakers, this 599 GTO is an especially compelling example of one of Ferrari’s landmark modern classics.
