Cette Ferrari 512 BB a été livrée neuve par l'importateur Ferrari en Angleterre, Maranello Concessionaires, à un automobiliste résident à Koweït City. Comme ce dernier souhaitait une version à conduite à gauche, l'importateur a fait venir une voiture de Belgique, via le concessionnaire Ferrari Francorchamps. Ce premier propriétaire a utilisé sa voiture quelque temps en Angleterre sur une immatriculation export, avant de la faire venir au Koweït. La licence d'exportation anglaise valable d'avril 1981 à mars 1982 fait d'ailleurs partie du dossier de la voiture. Deux ans plus tard, en 1984, cette Ferrari 512 BB a été vendue à un M.
Johnny Storrönning, ingénieur suédois travaillant au Koweït pour Scania Trucks, qui l'a importée en Suède. A cette époque, le compteur indiquait 18 000 km. M. Storrönning a utilisé sa voiture régulièrement entre 1985 et 1989, ce que confirment les rapports de contrôle technique qui permettent de suivre l'évolution du kilométrage: 19 863 km en juillet 1985, puis 28 253 km en octobre 1987. En 1989, cette Ferrari 512 BB a été achetée par M. Oskar Gyllham, collectionneur et marchand de voitures de collection basé à Eskilstuna, en Suède, qui l'a utilisée avec parcimonie pour son usage personnel tout en assurant un entretien régulier dans son propre atelier.
En 2007, cette voiture affichait 33 172 km et en mars 2009, date à laquelle l'actuel propriétaire en a fait l'acquisition, ce nombre n'avait que très peu évolué, à 33 263 km. Depuis, elle a été utilisée de façon épisodique, son propriétaire lui procurant un entretien suivi. En avril 2009, elle a fait l'objet d'une vidange moteur et, en mars 2012, d'une remise en état des carburateurs. En juin 2018, elle a bénéficié d'une révision incluant une vidange du liquide de frein et du liquide de refroidissement, ainsi que la pose d'un thermostat neuf. En décembre 2022, alors qu'elle affichait 37 744 km, une révision complète a été effectuée.
A cette occasion, les courroies et tendeurs de distribution ont été remplacés, de même que le système de direction. La pompe de compresseur de la climatisation a été rénovée et les joints de vitres latérales ont été remplacés pour un meilleur fonctionnement.
Grâce à son faible kilométrage et au nombre limité de propriétaires qu'elle a connus, tous utilisateurs soigneux, cette 512 "Berlinetta Boxer" se présente un très bon état d'origine. Évolution réussie de la première berlinette Ferrari de série à moteur central et produite à 929 exemplaires seulement, elle est accompagnée de ses outils et de sa documentation d'origine, et son propriétaire nous précise qu'elle "fonctionne magnifiquement bien, avec une puissance qui mêle intensité et souplesse." Avec son 12-cylindres de 5 litres développant 360 ch, cette berlinette faisait partie du club très fermé des bolides dépassant 300 km/h.
La voiture que nous présentons correspond à la dernière année de production de la 512 BB à alimentation par carburateurs, avant la 512 BBi et, de ce fait, elle représente l'expression ultime et rare des supercars des années 70/80. Les amateurs sauront apprécier ces remarquables qualités. As he wanted a left-hand drive model, the importer sourced a car from Belgium, from the Ferrari Francorchamps dealership.
The first owner used the car for a while in England on export plates, before shipping it to Kuwait. The British export licence, valid from April 1981 to March 1982, is present in the car's history file. Two years later, in 1984, the Ferrari was sold to Johnny Storrönning, a Swedish engineer working in Kuwait for Scania Trucks, who imported it into Sweden. At this point, the odometer was showing 18,000 km. Storrönning used the car regularly from 1985 to 1989, as is confirmed by the safety inspection reports, which show the increase in its mileage, to 18,863 km in July 1985, then 28,253 km in October 1987.
In 1989, the Ferrari was bought by Oskar Gyllham, a collector and classic car dealer based at Eskilstuna in Sweden. He used it sparingly as his personal car and had it regularly serviced in his own workshop. In 2007, the odometer was reading 33,172 km. By March 2009, when its current owner bought it, this figure had increased only slightly, to 33,263 km. Since then, the car has been used occasionally, while its owner has maintained it regularly. In April 2009, the engine oil was changed, and in March 2012 the carburettors were overhauled. In June 2018, the car was serviced, the brake fluid and coolant were changed and a new thermostat was fitted.
In December 2022, with 37,744 km on the clock, a full service was carried out. As part of this, the timing belts and tensioners were replaced, as was the steering system. The air-conditioning compressor was overhauled and the side window seals replaced for better operation. Thanks to its low mileage and limited number of previous owners, all of them very careful, this 512 "Berlinetta Boxer" is in excellent original condition. A successful evolution of Ferrari's first mid-engined berlinetta, of which only 929 were built, it comes with its tools and original documents.
Its owner told us: "It runs marvellously well, with a blend of intense power and flexibility." With its 5-litre 12-cylinder engine developing 360 bhp, this berlinetta is a member of the elite club of cars capable of exceeding 300 kph. The example we are presenting for sale comes from the final year of production of the carburettor-fed 512 BB before the arrival of the 512 BBi, and therefore represents the ultimate and rarefied expression of the supercars of the 1970s and '80s.
