While the majority of 1900 C Sprint coupes were produced with Carozzeria Touring bodies, a select number of cars, including this extremely rare example, feature coachwork from legendary Italian design houses including Ghia, Zagato, and Boano. In a world where 1950's Ferraris routinely exceed the seven digit value mark, coach built Alfa Romeo 1900 C Sprints are in high demand by collectors worldwide. Lot 5042, shown here, wears sleek bodywork from Carozzeria Pininfarina. Wrap-around rear glass and rounded proportions characterize the unmistakably Italian shape. Very few Pininfarina bodied 1900 C Sprints were built and approximately 30 examples are believed to survive worldwide.

In addition to its rare, hand-formed Pininfarina body, this particular 1900C Sprint has one more extraordinary feature that sets it apart from other Alfa 1900s. It has spent much of its life on display in the Pininfarina museum until purchased in 2007. A true heirloom car, it is presented in largely original, unrestored condition.
