By the time the third-generation Audi 100 and its high-spec 200 sibling were launched in 1982, Audi was firmly on a path of technical innovation. Aerodynamics had arrived, and the new model boasted flush-fitting windows and a small frontal area to deliver a drag coefficient of just 0.30. The 100 could be had with a range of engines, but 1983's 200 came with a turbocharged 2.2-litre variant of the inline-five, initially producing 165 bhp but making as much as 220 bhp towards the end of the 1980s. The 200 would top 220 km/h on the autobahn, placing it firmly alongside performance offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz of the time.
The successful C3 generation 200 provided the backbone of Audi's mid-size executive saloon line throughout the 1980s and was replaced by the C4 in 1990. This 1984 Audi 200 Quattro Turbo was purchased new by the current owner in 1985 from VAG Agent Hülpert & Gerlach in Dortmund. Painted in dark grey metallic assorted with a semi-leather and tartan style interior, this 200 was equipped with some aftermarket features such as a VDO Tempostat, a cup holder, an electronic alarm, a telephone and a Nardi steering wheel. Showing 93,801 km on the odometer, this Audi will require recommissioning prior to use due to have been in static display for an unknown time in the owner's private collection.
The car will be sold with its Fahrzeugbrief; its Abmeldebescheinigung Für den Fahrzeughalter; its 1985 purchase invoice, its owner's manual and different bank and insurance documents from 1985.
