This handsome example of Porsche’s groundbreaking 911 GT3-R was delivered new to Italian GT team ART Engineering, in whose hands it enjoyed considerable success. At the A-1 Ring 500 kilometres—the first round of the 2000 FIA GT Championship—Fabio Mancini and Gianni Collini drove the car to a fine N-GT class win. This came ahead of stiff class opposition from fellow Porsche teams EMKA, Larbre, and Red Bull Racing. Other notable results that year included 7th in class at Brno, 8th at Magny-Cours, and 10th at Lausitzring.
For 2001, ART retained the services of future Ferrari test driver, Andrea Bertolini. At Zolder, Bertolini and co-driver Alberto Radaelli scored a noteworthy 11th overall and 5th in class; the pair also finished 8th in class at Silverstone. Later, Bertolini and Jirko Malcharek repeated this result at Hungaroring.
Following the car’s competitive swansong in the 2003 Vallelunga 6 Hours—in which it was campaigned by Tirelli Motorsport, finishing 8th overall and 4th in class—it was rebuilt by Modena Classic Works in 2006. Acquired by the vendor in 2020, it would—subject to the necessary safety updates, crack testing, and full mechanical check—be well placed for a return to the track in the Masters Endurance Legends or Peter Auto Endurance Racing Legends series to which it is ideally suited.
Ce bel exemplaire de la révolutionnaire Porsche 911 GT3-R a été livré neuf à ART Engineering, l'écurie italienne de GT qui lui a fait connaître un succès considérable. Aux 500 km de l'A1-Ring, la première manche du championnat des GT de la FIA, Fabio Mancini et Gianni Collini ont conquis avec elle en 2000 une belle victoire en catégorie N-GT, alors qu'une rude concurrence leur était opposée par d'autres écuries courant également sur Porsche, EMKA, Larbre et Red Bull Racing. Parmi les autres résultats notoires, on retiendra les places de septième dans la catégorie à Brno, huitième à Magny-Cours et dixième au Lausitzring.
Pour la saison 2001, ART fit appel au futur pilote d'essai de Ferrari, Andrea Bertolini. Elle a été acquise par son vendeur en 2020. Moyennant les mises à jours de sécurité nécessaires, une recherches de fissures et un contrôle mécanique complet, elle pourrait être bien placée pour revenir sur les pistes dans le cadre des Masters Endurance Legends ou des Peter Auto Endurance Racing Legends, pour lesquels elle est idéalement adaptée.
