Instantly recognisable by its one-piece, curved rear wing, the first-generation 996-type GT3 marks the start of the modern-day Porsche GT lineage. More than two decades on, the likes of the GT2 and GT3 models are icons in their own right, aside from the overarching 911 legend.
In addition to the stiffer and lighter platform that gained uprated suspension and brakes, the ‘996.1’ GT3 recipe was completed by a naturally aspirated flat-six “Mezger” engine. Derived from the 911 GT1 race car that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998, the motor made 355 horsepower.
Finished in the classic shade of Guards Red over a black leather and Alcantara interior, this GT3 was delivered on 8 February 2000 via Fast Automobiles, an official Porsche dealer based in Saint-Mandé, Paris. Stamps in the accompanying service book indicate that the car was still living on the outskirts of the capital city through to 2017. Sold via August SA of Ohain, Belgium, the GT3 then joined The Curated Collection in June 2019.
Most recently serviced by Kronos Porsche of Mont-Saint-Guibert in June 2022, this highly desirable modern classic’s odometer displayed 24,095 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. Offered in a rarely seen colour for the model, this GT3 marks the birth of one of Porsche’s greatest dynasties.
Immédiatement identifiable à son double aileron arrière d'une seule pièce, la 996 GT3 de première génération marque le début de la lignée des Porsche GT des temps modernes. Plus de 20 ans après, les versions GT2 et GT3 sont devenues en tant que telles de véritables icônes, indépendamment de la légendaire 911.
En plus d'une plateforme plus rigide et plus légère dotée de suspensions et de freins améliorés, la "996.1" GT3 était équipée d'un moteur 6-cylindres atmosphérique "Mezger". Issu de la 911 GT1 de compétition ayant remporté les 24 Heures du Mans en 1998, ce moteur développait 355 ch.
Présentée dans la teinte emblématique "Guards Red" avec un intérieur en cuir et Alcantara noir, cette GT3 a été livrée le 8 février 2000 par l'intermédiaire de Fast Automobiles, un agent Porche officiel de Saint-Mandé, à l'est de Paris. Les tampons qui sont apposés sur son carnet d'entretien indiquent que la voiture est restée en région parisienne jusqu'à 2017. Vendue via Porsche August SA, d'Ohain en Belgique, elle a rejoint en juin 2019 "The Curated Collection".
Ayant fait l'objet en juin 2022 d'une révision chez Kronos Porsche de Mont-Saint-Guibert, cette classique moderne extrêmement désirable affichait 24 095 km au compteur au moment de rédiger ce catalogue. Proposée dans une couleur rare pour ce modèle, cette GT3 marque la naissance d'une des plus importantes lignée de Porsche.
