Automobiles Alpine was founded by Jean Rédél in 1955. In 1964 they licenced a company in Mexico to manufacture their designs under the name DinAlpin and launched a 1,296cc competition version of the A110 in 1967. The next year an accord was signed with Renault which saw the Renault diamond badge added to the bonnet and the brand name changed to Alpine Renault. This A110 A1300 was manufactured in 1971 as a 1,296cc Berlinette, one of the 693 DinAlpins built in Mexico. 1973 saw Alpine win the First World Rally Championship with the “Group 4” 1,596cc variant and in 1976 Alpine Renault added their 1,647cc engine to form the A110 1600SX on which this car is now modelled.

This Alpine was imported into Spain as an A110-1300, converted to Group 4 specification and set-up for Rallies, Hill climbs and Sprints being frequently driven over the last 10 years by husband and wife team Andy and Liz Owler. The specification includes a four-speed gearbox, low ratio differential, heated windscreen, front radiator, competition exhaust, quick steering rack and Cibié spotlights front and rear. Six-point safety harnesses are fitted as is a Terratrip distance recorder, an FIA roll-cage and Koni adjustable shock absorbers all round.

UK registered in 2013 it is supplied with an MSA competition logbook together with a V5C registration document and current MoT test certificate valid until 20th August 2024. The knowledgeable and enthusiastic vendor advises that this A110 runs well, with the 1,647cc engine, on twin Weber DCOE 40 carburettors, producing brisk performance in a car that is well set-up for competition use. Finished in Alpine Renault works colours of black and yellow with a black interior, this car caries the livery similar to that worn by the Famous #7, winner of the 1976 “Tour de Corse” as seen recently at Goodwood!

Notable is that the livery and graphics have been painstakingly painted on and are not “stickers”. This Alpine A110 wants for nothing, is on the button, ready for use in competition or as a great road car! A very capable yet forgiving car in the right hands.
