Continuing their tradition for excellence, Porsche’s renowned engineers relentlessly developed and improved the 911 from launch, ensuring its ability to adapt to the changing demands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Collectively, the E- and F-Series 911 models of 1972 and 1973 were the ultimate expression of the long hood, small bumper models that first appeared for 1969 and marked the first major update for the 911. This original U.S.-specification 911T benefits handsomely from restoration and modification to 911 Carrera RS specifications. Finished in light yellow with a black interior, it is powered by a 2.7L flat 6-cylinder engine equipped with mechanical fuel injection.
Rebuilt with 90mm pistons and cylinders, it sends the power to the road via a modified 5-speed manual transaxle equipped with a Quaife limited-slip differential. Reliability and performance enhancements include a front-mounted oil cooler, aftermarket heat exchangers and an RS-style muffler. Upgraded underpinnings include Bilstein shocks and turbo-specification tie-rod ends, plus RS-style torsion bars, adjustable trailing arms and an adjustable rear sway bar. Brakes are also RS-specification, including the dual-circuit master cylinder, calipers and cross-drilled rotors. A front strut-tower brace adds chassis rigidity.
Riding on a set of 15-inch Fuchs wheels, the 911 is fitted with metal rear fender flares, lightweight fiberglass RS-style bumpers, dual chrome mirrors and a fiberglass ducktail rear decklid molded from an original steel unit. Fitted with RS-style seats and door panels, the interior compartment includes lightweight salt-and-pepper carpets. The driver is greeted by a drilled pedal set, WEVO shifter and VDO instrumentation including an 8,000 RPM tachometer, 150 MPH speedometer and auxiliary gauges. Desirable documents include a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, an owner’s manual and restoration receipts and photos.
