Released 50 years after the original Shelby GT350H was introduced for the Hertz rental car fleet, Ford Motor Company, Shelby American and Hertz reunited for a special new run of performance-modified 2016 Ford Mustang GTs named the Shelby GT-H. First available to rental customers on Memorial Day weekend 2016, the latest homage to the famed Shelby GT350H “Rent-A-Racers” of the 1960s, the new 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H, was available exclusively through the Hertz Adrenaline Collection at select airport locations in the continental United States.
Powered by Ford’s revolutionary Coyote V-8 engine, the 2016 Shelby GT-H program, as described at introduction by Ford Performance Parts Manager Doug White, aimed to “… give everyone a chance to add some fun to their travel with a distinctive American pony car, so Ford Performance and Shelby American sharpened the handling, improved the performance, sweetened the exhaust note and added distinctive Hertz styling to the Mustang.
Anyone who rents a limited edition Ford Shelby GT-H will enjoy a very special driving experience.” Offered with the odometer reading 13,890 miles at the time of writing, this 2016 GT-H carries Shelby CSM No. 16H0102 and it is No. 102 of the 171 exclusive 50th Anniversary Hertz Rent-A-Racers offered only at select Hertz locations. Finished in Shadow Black with gold Le Mans over-the-top and rocker stripes, complemented by the ebony leather interior with heated and cooled front bucket seats, this electrifying Shelby/Hertz car features the muscle of a 5.0L Coyote V-8 engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission driving a 3.55:1 ratio limited-slip differential.
Abundant features and passenger amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, a voice-activated navigation system with 8-inch center touch-screen, the Shaker audio system and a tilt- and telescopic steering column. HID projector headlamps, LED fog lamps and LED tail lights with sequential turn signals provide illumination. Other choice features include powered and heated mirrors, auto-dimming rearview mirrors and Intelligent Access with pushbutton start. Visual cues include the special vented hood, grille, rocker extensions and the front and rear spoilers, plus black multi-spoke alloy wheels and Hertz, GT-H and Ford Performance emblems.
