In 2009, Ferrari decided to build a very special version of its F430. Known as the 430 Scuderia Spider 16M, this model is one of just 499 built and shows 10,062 miles. The 16M was introduced in 2009 to commemorate the 16 Formula One World Championships that Ferrari has earned in the intensely competitive world of international racing. The 16 World Championships gives Ferrari the title of winningest Formula One constructor, and it is doubtful that any other team will steal this crown within the near future. In fact, Ferrari is currently in contention with AMG Mercedes for a potential 17th world title for the 2017 season.
More than just a name upgrade on the F430, Ferrari incorporated cutting-edge Formula One technology into the 16M—most notably the SuperFast2 automated manual transmission that executes upshifts and downshifts in a lightning-quick 60 milliseconds. The Formula One inspiration is also reflected in its massive carbon-ceramic brake rotors, which provide maximum stopping capability. The 16M further delineates itself from the standard F430 with both a recalibrated suspension that is noticeably more aggressive and track-tuned, as well as a higher-compression 4.3L V-8 engine that produces 20 additional horsepower for a net output of 503 HP.
This racing persona carries into the driver’s cabin with visible amounts of carbon fiber and aluminum trim capturing the motorsports vibe. The Ferrari F430 Scuderia Spider 16M is fast with a factory-rated top speed of 198 MPH, a 0-60 time of just 3.4 seconds and a lap time around the Ferrari Fiorano test track that rivals the Enzo. This car has a stunning presentation with a monochromatic black exterior and black interior theme contrasted by yellow Scuderia shields on the front fenders. The matte titanium gray wheels with the bright yellow prancing horse center caps lend further visual impact to this Formula One-inspired exotic.
