The next owner proceeded to carry out complete restoration, including some significant upgrades. These included installing the 4.9-litre engine from a Bentley S-Series; a late-model R-Type Continental differential; and electric power steering, making the car both faster and easier to drive: a veritable 'wolf in sheep's clothing'. There is an extensive photographic record of the restoration on file together with a substantial quantity of associated paperwork and invoices from various specialists, testifying to the fact that this was a true 'no-expense-spared' project. Indeed, 'MAC 651' was rewarded with the Patina Class trophy at the Bentley Drivers Club
Concours d'Elegance
in 2017 (with the car). Additional documentation includes the original logbook; Bentley Drivers' Club reviews from 2007 and 2014; various tax discs; and a current V5C. The car has had a new set of tyres and battery fitted this year.
