- Bought new by a former Swiss Formula 3 Champion
- Most likely competed in the Renault Europa Cup!
- Formerly owned by Jo Vonlanthen
The first owner of this car, registered new in Switzerland in May 1982, was Jo Vonlanthen, the 1972 Swiss Formula 3 Champion, who even took part in a Formula 1 Grand Prix in 1975 at the wheel of a Williams. He subsequently competed in several seasons of the Renault Europa Cup, including the 1982 season, most likely in this very car. As a certificate in the file attests, he sold it in 1993 to a collector from St-German in the Swiss canton of Valais, who kept it for more than 20 years after having it thoroughly overhauled so it could return to road-going configuration. A set of invoices detailing the work carried out during this period is included.
In 2015, the car underwent restoration, with its mechanical components inspected and its body shell (originally red) repainted black. However, the owner, who had high standards, became discouraged and sold it to an enthusiast who was also a professional bodybuilder, approved by the French Federation of Vintage Vehicles. He completed the restoration to a very high standard, giving this historic car a magnificent appearance, both on the outside and when inspecting the underbody. In addition to engine preparation, it features several distinctive details, including mechanically welded front suspension wishbones of the Cévennes type, as used on Europa Cup cars.
Like the versions delivered in Switzerland, it has electric windows. This is a superb example of a legendary model with an impressive history.
