Offered from The Vault Collection - the pinnacle of the 997 era 911, a fully specified Turbo S offering 560bhp and almost 200mph in a fantastic colour combination, with less than 2,000 miles and in exceptional condition. Forming part of The Vault Collection - a small group of best of breed cars that have been curated by a genuine enthusiast, who wanted to fill his specially built underground car facility with the best possible examples of his favourite modern classics. Iconic Auctioneers are privileged to have been granted access to the 'vault' and are pleased to present some choice examples. The facelifted version of Porsche's 997 Turbo was unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show.

It was fitted with a completely new 3.8-litre engine generating a power output of 530bhp, thanks to revised Borg-Warner variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers, whilst the optional 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox replaced the Tiptronic. With PDK and the also optional Sport-Chrono package, which includes the availability of electronically controlled launch control and an over-boost function for temporarily increasing the turbo-pressure, Porsche claimed the 911 Turbo would accelerate from 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of a staggering 194mph.

Porsche has traditionally raised the appeal of the 911 Turbo during the latter part of its lifecycle with a heavily optioned S-model and the 997 Turbo is no exception. The 997 Turbo S added 30bhp and £20,000 to the standard 997 Turbo’s already eye-wateringly extreme figures. Those figures - 560bhp, 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and 0-100mph in 7.1 seconds - speak for themselves. The torque peak is the same as a regular Turbo equipped with the optional Sport Chrono over-boost function, but the S has the full 516lb/ft whenever you like it, rather than needing a Sport button to be pressed to access the extra 'oomph'.

The S also gained Porsche’s excellent 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, with paddle shift behind the steering wheel and Sport Chrono Plus package for more spirited throttle, damper and stability control settings at the press of a button. Other developments included the latest 911 Turbo's four-wheel drive hardware and PTV, or Porsche Torque Vectoring, which varied the drive to each individual rear wheel for more neutral cornering and spectacular traction.

The Turbo S' agility has been described as almost GT3-like albeit without any of the road-going Cup car's intensity or demanding nature. 997 Turbo S Cabriolets were only built in small numbers and left the factory with a very high standard specification (see below). The car presented here is a 2010 Porsche 911 (997.2) Turbo S Cabriolet which was supplied new via Porsche Centre Reading in June 2010 and remains in simply outstanding condition, wearing its 1,900 miles lightly.

In the fantastic colour combination of GT Silver with a Cocoa full leather interior, it comes fitted with an extensive list of highly desirable optional extras and a reassuringly complete servicing history and just may be the lowest mileage Turbo S available for sale anywhere today.

Factory specification includes PDK 7-speed gearbox, Porsche carbon ceramic brakes, special order metallic paint, full leather interior, 12-way electrically adjustable heated sports seats with lumbar support, PCM with integrated DVD navigation, universal multimedia interface, BOSE sound package, Sports Chrono Package Plus, cruise-control, PASM, centre-lock Spyder 19" alloys, Bi-Xenon dynamic cornering headlights, dynamic engine mounts, rain-sensing wipers, locking 40% differential, tyre pressure monitoring, black hood, rear park assist and carpet mats.

Combining earth-shattering performance with genuine day to day usability, the Turbo S is untouchable and in this delightful colour combination and sensibly guided, appears irresistible.
