It is imperative that any transfer of ownership be approved by NHTSA prior to the title changing hands and that this vehicle cannot be transferred to a dealership entity. The seller will work with the buyer to ensure all limitations are understood and that compliance with the current “show or display” requirements are met. Buyers should be aware that the vehicle is limited to use of no more than 2,500 miles per year and must be made available for inspection by NHTSA until the vehicle is not less than 25 years old.
Porsche periodically celebrates its heritage by offering limited-production variants inspired by the company's most historic models. Cars like the 911 R, the several generations of Speedsters, and the original type 997 Sport Classic have all offered modern performance with a dash of vintage panache.
Revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the first iteration of the 911 Sport Classic was offered to just 250 individuals in the European market in celebration of the 911’s 45th anniversary. This special-edition Porsche is instantly recognizable with its distinctive RS-inspired "ducktail spoiler," Fuchs-style alloy wheels, and “double-bubble” roof reminiscent of designs made famous by Italian coachbuilder Zagato. The Sport Classic Grey paintwork with subtle grey stripes is exclusive to the model and pairs beautifully with the Espresso leather interior. Suffice to say that even the uninitiated can detect that a Sport Classic is no ordinary 911.
However, it is in less obvious details where the engineering pedigree of the Sport Classic reveals itself, whether it be the unique combination of the wider Carrera 4S bodywork on a rear-wheel-drive chassis or the standard fitment of the type 997.2 Sport Chassis pack, Power Pack, and carbon ceramic brakes. Even the six-speed manual gearbox received a short-shift kit to produce a more rewarding action. The engine is a special 3.8-liter flat-six fitted with a power kit, carbon fiber airbox, revised exhaust system, and remapped ECU. Altogether, these upgrades bring output to an exhilarating 408 horsepower, a 23-horsepower improvement over the contemporaneous Carrera S.
According to a Porsche Production Specifications document on file, this Sport Classic left the factory with equipment for Germany and a North American DVD navigation system. Customs and shipping documents in its history file indicate that the car was imported to the United States in late 2010. In October 2025, Porsche San Antonio performed an annual service and installed a new battery, as confirmed by an invoice on file.
The second of only 250 examples produced, serial number 002/250 presents much like it did when new, with just 123 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing.
