Our Mercedes 230 SL Pagoda is of French origin; it was delivered new by Etablissements Royal Elysées on June 15, 1966. It is worth noting that it still has its service book, owner's manual and hardtop, and is equipped with a stainless-steel exhaust system and a pair of additional Cibié headlamps. Its engine was replaced on an exchange basis at Mercedes Le Havre, Garage Lamartine, in August 1988. The accompanying documents show that the car spent most of its life in the Seine-Maritime department, always maintained by the same Mercedes-Benz dealership.
Its current owner acquired it in 2018, attracted by the excellent state of preservation of a vehicle that had been out of use and in storage for several years. Keen to bring it up to scratch, he had Mercedes Le Havre carry out a complete recommissioning; details of the work are available in the file. Another important point is that the bodywork was completely restored to eliminate age-related corrosion before being given a fresh coat of paint in its original color; invoices document this work as well. Finally, five new tires were fitted, and its alpaca soft top is relatively recent.
