The Lamborghini Countach exploded onto the supercar scene in 1971 when it first appeared at the Geneva Auto Salon, but by the late 1970s Lamborghini was in deep financial trouble; production slowed to the barest minimum and development stopped completely. Then the France-based Mimram Group stepped up with a plan to rescue the company and the cash to back it up. Their efforts attracted the interest of Chrysler Corporation, and years after it seemed all was lost, in 1988 Lamborghini announced a special 25th Anniversary Edition Countach.
Although mechanically undifferentiated from the late-model 5000 QV, the 25th Anniversary Edition incorporated several exterior refinements to both visually distinguish it and to improve airflow and internal cooling. The most popular, refined and fastest of the Countach lineage, the 25th Anniversary Edition entered production in 1988 and carried through to the introduction of the Diablo in 1990. This late-production example was built in January 1990 and delivered new to a Montreal, Quebec, Lamborghini dealer finished in shimmering Rosso Perlato with a Tan leather interior accented with Red piping, one of only four believed to be produced with this combination.
It remained in Montreal until being exported in 2015 to Florida, where it won Best in Class at the Amelia Island Festivals of Speed. It has been inspected and serviced by a licensed Lamborghini dealer, and comes with the original tool roll, U.S.-specification owner’s manual and Carfax. It will be offered at auction with fewer than 3,124 kilometers or 1,985 miles, one of the lowest-mileage 25th Anniversary Editions in existence.
