We are pleased to note that this F40 was recently certified by Ferrari Classiche. The certification book will be forwarded to the winning bidder upon receipt. Furthermore, this car is not equipped with its original gearbox, but with a correct replacement gearbox installed early in the car's life.

Truly one of the most iconic cars of its era, the F40 took not only Ferrari, but the automotive industry in general into the next stratosphere in terms of performance, setting the gold standard by which all other supercars would be measured for years to come, making it the must-have car of its era and one of Ferrari’s all-time greatest automobiles.

Delivered new to Germany in June of 1992, this European-specification F40 is a late-production example and therefore is fitted with both catalytic converters and adjustable suspension. Remaining in German ownership since new, its first two owners were Horst Sonnendorfer and Roland Berkhaus, respectively. It was purchased by its current owner from Berkhaus, who owned it for a few years before selling the car to a friend, then realizing the error of his ways and subsequently buying the F40 back.

It is perfectly understandable why the F40 would have pulled at its owner’s heartstrings and why he had to have it back. One of Ferrari’s most incredible cars when it was introduced and still a very exciting car to drive and enjoy today, it was the very first car to crack the fabled 200 mph mark, hitting a top speed of 201.4 mph. Acceleration to reach that point was equally incredible, with 100 km/h being achieved from a standstill in 4.1 seconds. This was made possible through Ferrari’s fanatical attention to the F40’s weight, and thanks to their prolific use of carbon fibre, the F40 tipped the scales at 1,100 kg dry. At its heart was a twin-turbocharged V-8 engine that produced a monstrous 478 hp.

The car presents wonderfully throughout and has been repainted just once in its life, and is confirmed to still be wearing its original front clamshell and doors. It is important to note that the car last received a belt service in May 2016, an annual service in September 2017, and most recently had its fuel tanks and catalytic converters replaced in December 2017, leaving it fully ready to be driven and enjoyed by its next owner. In addition to its original owner's manuals and warranty card, two sets of keys, and a tool kit, the F40 is offered with a highly desirable set of luggage.

A performance icon and an industry benchmark, the F40 is a triumph of engineering for Ferrari and a car that is truly brilliant to behold in every respect. This particular example checks all the right boxes and, following recent services, is ready to be used and enjoyed as Enzo intended.

The F40, one of the most iconic cars of its era, took Ferrari and the automotive industry to another level in terms of performance. It established a new benchmark that would serve as the standard by which all other supercars would be judged for years to come. In its day, it became the car to own, and one of the most important Ferraris in the marque's history.

Delivered new to Germany in June 1992, this European-specification F40 is one of the last examples produced and is therefore equipped with both catalytic converters and adjustable suspension. Based in Germany since new, its first two owners were Horst Sonnendorfer and Roland Berkhaus. The latter drove it for a few years before selling it to a friend, but realizing the mistake he had made, he subsequently bought the F40 back. The current owner acquired it from him.

It is easy to understand why this F40 tugged at its owner's heartstrings, and why he had to get it back. When it was introduced, the F40 was one of the most extraordinary Ferraris, and it remains extremely exhilarating to drive today. It was the first production car to exceed the fabled 200 mph (320 km/h) mark, capable of reaching a top speed of 324 km/h. Its acceleration was just as fantastic, taking the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds.

These performance figures were made possible by Ferrari's almost fanatical attention to weight and, thanks to the extensive use of carbon fibre, the F40 tipped the scales at no more than 1,100 kg dry. At its heart was a twin-turbocharged V8 producing a formidable 478 hp.

This car presents beautifully in every respect. It has been repainted only once and still retains its original clamshells and doors. It is important to note that it received a timing-belt service in May 2016 and an annual service in September 2017. More recently, in December 2017, the catalytic converters and fuel tanks were replaced, leaving it ready to hit the road in the hands of its next owner. In addition to its original owner's manuals, warranty card, two sets of keys, and tool kit, this F40 comes with a highly desirable luggage set.

A true performance icon and benchmark for the automotive industry, the F40 is a technical tour de force for Ferrari and a brilliant car in every respect. This example has all the right attributes and, following its recent servicing, is ready to be driven and enjoyed as Enzo intended.
