Saying the entire name Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz features a lot of syllables, and there was good reason the brand desired those names to be remembered. This beautiful 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible speaks for itself, a premium luxury motorcar as only the Standard of the World, Cadillac, could create. After its 1953 introduction, the Eldorado quickly became the most desirable of the brand’s offerings, and the Biarritz name was exclusive to convertible versions of that model.
Approximately 1,800 were built in 1957, a year that saw a special redesign of the back of the car with a down-swept rear deck, split rear bumpers and angled tail fins to start what would be the dramatic classic look of this era’s Cadillac fins. Under the hood here is a larger-displacement 365/325 HP V-8 engine, stunningly optioned with dual 4-barrel carburetors and the gold-tone batwing air cleaner layout. This is backed by a Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, and this car has power brakes.
The body itself is covered in Olympic White, with the unique-to-Eldorado, broad, stainless steel rear trim plates and script Biarritz front fender emblems, plus gold-toned V-emblems to denote the Eldorado package. There is a power-operated black convertible top, which covers the matched black leather interior. The front seat features a fold-down center armrest, the chrome two-spoke steering wheel with crest center, a fluted foot trim, Delco radio and premium chrome dash paneling. Of course, little needs to be said about the spaciousness of the interior, as this is a sizable car, stretching to 222 inches on a 129.5-inch wheelbase.
