The Evo 2 is one of the sportiest versions in the history of the M3 E30, with an engine producing 220 hp and aerodynamic add-ons designed for competition. It is also one of the rarest, as only 500 were produced. As its original service book confirms, this beautiful Evo 2 was sold new in August 1988 by Garage BMW Jean Huchet in Rennes to a local businessman as a company car. He subsequently registered it in his own name and drove the M3 until early 1991, mainly making trips back and forth between Brittany and Paris.
As shown in its service book, the car was regularly serviced by BMW Rennes. In 1991, Loïc Monnier, manager of the Lohéac museum, acquired this Evo 2 from BMW Lorient, who confirmed that it was the only Evo 2 sold new in Rennes. It had then covered 60,200 km, and some parts were repainted at the time to ensure its appearance was immaculate. In the early 1990s, Loïc Monnier used his M3 for daily journeys, and then as a second car.
He confirmed that it had always been driven carefully, with the engine's warm-up period scrupulously observed, and that it had never been used intensively or on a track. After a decade of regular use, it was put on display at the Manoir de l'Automobile and regularly started, which explains its fine original condition. The car now shows just under 186,000 km and remains in a rare state of preservation, consistent with its use and careful storage. Finished in its beautiful original Nogaro Silber, the car will be sold with its owner's and service manuals.
Loïc Monnier, who joined the museum at the same time as the Group B cars, is turning a page with their sale and taking a well-deserved retirement. This is the sole reason he is parting with this beautiful M3 Evo 2. He hopes its new owner will care for it as he has for three decades and preserve its lovely original condition.
