Chassis No.: CT1795

Engine No.: CT18196E

Registration: AEZ 484

Produced between 1961 and 1967, the TR4 combined a new, modern and aggressive body design by famed Italian stylist, Giovanni Michelotti with the basic chassis of the previous TR3A. The TR4 also improved passenger comfort with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation and an optional hardtop. The 2138cc engine of the late-production TR3A continued while the 1991cc engine was also made available to buyers who wanted to participate in two litre racing. When equipped with the optional overdrive, the TR4 was good for a top speed of almost 110mph. Today, the four-cylinder TR's are among the easiest of post-war classic sports cars to own and maintain being supported by a multitude of component suppliers and other specialists.

Originally supplied new on the 14th of December 1961 to the Standard Triumph Motor Company in Los Angeles the Heritage Certificate confirms the factory fitted extras of a heater, Michelin tyres and windscreen washers. The car was shipped from Kingston-upon-Hull aboard the cargo ship 'Bataan'. The car made it's way to Malta during the mid 60's and was repatriated to the UK in January 1967 as indicated by the registration document. For the next 30 years from 1967 to 1997 the car remained in the ownership of the Lazell family and was subject to a full restoration during the late nineties.

It was at this point that the colour of the car was changed to today's Signal Red paint and contrasting black interior with white piping. The car has a comprehensive history file indicating servicing and parts expenditure along with a number of old MoT certificates and tax discs which start from circa 1998. Previous MoT certificates confirm that the car has covered 5,257 miles since it's restoration and 95,703 previously up to 1997. Last summer the car benefitted from the fitting of four new '68 spoke' chrome wire wheels shod with four new Continental period tyres, along with new rear brake drums and shoes.

The driver and passenger seats were also re-upholstered, and a new ageless number plate was acquired to replace the 1967 'E' plate issued when the car returned to the UK in 1967
