The 1951 Fords were very successful throughout the entire model range of six and eight cylinder cars. At the top of the line were the Custom DeLuxe models, which had chromed window moldings, a chromed horn ring, dual sun visors, armrests on both doors, passenger assist straps, and horizontal chrome strips on the exterior of the body. The example offered here is a very nice older restoration that has been well looked after by the same owner for the last 23 years. It is painted black with a matching black and maroon interior, and it has a black Hartz cloth power top with red piping.

The engine was rebuilt some time ago, and the owner has enjoyed many road trips over the years, including one last year that covered over 400 miles. It is stated to easily maintain a highway speed of 65 mph, aided by the original overdrive transmission, and has none of the overheating issues that sometimes afflict flathead Ford engines. This car is further adorned with wide whitewall tires with hubcaps and trim rings, as well as a radio and heater. A look under the hood reveals the engine bay with proper components, including the original engine block, which is painted the correct gold color. The underside has been painted and shows the very solid original frame and honest wear.

The exterior is very respectable with solid, deep chrome, nicely buffed stainless, and very good bodywork, which is matched by a complete trunk with a mat, spare tire, and jack. With less than 64,000 original miles, this Ford presents a tempting cruising opportunity.
