The Ferrari F355 made its debut in 1994 with the GTS and Berlinetta models building on the mid-engined V8-powered configuration of the outgoing 328. The F355 Spider was introduced in 1995, and it upheld Ferrari open-top tradition set in motion by the original Ferrari with Pininfarina design and the first-ever power-operated soft top from Maranello. This 1998 Ferrari F355 Spider was special ordered in Nurburgring Silver paint with matching silver-finish brake calipers and a factory carbon-fiber interior package to augment the black leather cabin. The silver-and-black Spider was factory equipped with a traditional manual gearbox, and it has logged just 8,330 miles since new.
Dual overhead-camshaft 5-valve cylinder heads, dry-sump oiling and revised Bosch 5.2 electronic fuel injection brought the 3.5L V-8 output up to 375 HP at 8,250 RPM. The mid-mounted engine sends power to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. Tuned independent suspension, 4-wheel disc brakes and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering made for a more refined supercar driving experience without sacrificing expected Ferrari-driver feedback and supercar-level road control. Sorted mechanicals and refined ergonomics made the 1994-99 F355 one of the most popular and desirable Ferraris of its time.
Pininfarina exterior style is backed by more than 1,000 hours of wind-tunnel development testing. Lowering the black soft top reveals a black leather interior with bolstered bucket seats, sport steering wheel with airbag and carbon-fiber trim over the instrument cluster and door panels. Repeated runs to redline and the resulting 180-degree crankshaft 40-valve V-8 shriek are encouraged by the console-mount gated shifter. Factory air conditioning provides refined cabin comfort. The F355 Spider carries a clean CarFax report, and it rides on factory 5-spoke staggered-width alloy wheels outfitted with performance tires.
