In the aftermath of the Second World War, the car industry is in ruins, and the manufacturer from Sochaux is looking for a model that able to replace the 402 while competing with the Traction 15 Six from Citroën. After a few months, the 203, the only model in the Peugeot range until 1955, is presented to the public. To satisfy demand, several versions are produced, going from the 4-door sedan to the family estate, including the coupé, the cabriolet and the panel van. In total, nearly 700,000 copies of the 203 were produced, making this car a real commercial success.

The model we are interested in is one of the 2 567 203 convertibles produced. The car was found in its original state in 1998, in Brittany, by a Belgian amateur. After importing it, he undertook a total restoration, spread over the three following years. This started with a total rebuild of the engine, gearbox, axle and running gear in 1999 at Garage Gossens in Anderlecht, a well-known independent Peugeot dealer. In 2001, the owner had the upholstery completely refurbished, a work that allows us today to enjoy a beautifully patinated burgundy leather. At the same time, the bodywork was restored by specialist Luc Janssens.

During this work, the original rocker panels, which were too damaged and could not be found, were replaced by fiber parts. Today, the car is in a good state of presentation, with a nice patina shaped by the kilometers covered and the passing years... Since its restoration, our 203 was indeed used during many rallies, heading from Tunisia to Italian lakes and of Haute-Savoie passes. Recently registered with a French historic title, our car represents a perfect opportunity for a lover of beautiful French cars. Our examination has revealed some corrosion on the front right crossbar| a point that needs to be treated, even if it does not prevent the car from running perfectly
