Introduced in August 1935, Packard’s Fourteenth Series was notable in the extremes, with the company’s elite-level Super Eight and Twelve lines vastly outsold by the medium-price One-Twenty. Bringing Packard’s renowned quality and prestige to a broader market, the One-Twenty debuted the prior model year and proved so popular that it ensured Packard’s continued viability in the challenging Great Depression-era new-car market.

Riding on a generous 120-inch wheelbase chassis and powered by a 282 CI L-head inline 8-cylinder engine factory rated at 120 HP, the One-Twenty also featured such class-leading mechanical highlights as a floor-shifted 3-speed manual transmission, Safe-T-Flex independent front suspension and the added safety afforded by hydraulic drum brakes. The Convertible Sedan body style was a new addition to the Packard model catalog for 1936. Formerly part of a prominent California motorcar collection, where it resided for 30 years, this 1936 Packard 120 Convertible Sedan exudes a graceful and stylish presence belying its medium-price status when new.

Finished in Mint Green over green upholstery, the Packard rides on rare artillery-style steel-spoke wheels featuring pinstripe accents and mounting Packard-scripted hubcaps with whitewall tires. Accents and accessories are numerous, including Packard’s distinctive Goddess of Speed radiator mascot, bumper guards, a banjo steering wheel, a rear folding luggage rack and dual side-mounted spares with metal covers and mirrors.
