Routinely voted by the classic car magazines as one of the greatest Japanese cars of all time, Nissan's high-tech Skyline GT-R burst onto the motoring scene in 1989 to universal acclaim. Built specifically to contest Group A, the original R32 GT-R Skyline dominated the Australian racing scene, earning the nickname 'Godzilla' and ultimately, banishment from the ATCC.

Debuting at Mallala in June 1990, the R32 race program was run by Gibson Motorsport and from the outset it was clear the car had the potential to be a race winner but it wasn't until 1991 that everything came together for the team and drivers Jim Richards and Mark Skaife crushed the opposition, including a win at the all-important Bathurst enduro. Despite increased minimum weight and reduced boost bar for 1992, the Skyline continued its winning ways, famously scoring a repeat win at Bathurst in the toughest condition - and a hostile reception from the crowd when Richards and Skaife took the podium.

In road going form, the R32 was powered by a twin-turbo RB26DETT in-line six allied with a sophisticated 4WD system and HICAS all-wheel steering, the R32 was a devastating road car. On paper, these cars were stated to produce 276hp, however these were usually underrated numbers to please the limiting laws in Japan. Unofficially the Skyline held the lap record on the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife.

THE CAR OFFERED

When legendary tuner Kazuhiko "Smokey" Nagata of Top-Secret Japan applies his expertise, the results are nothing short of extraordinary—and this 1993 Skyline R32 GT-R is a perfect example. This project started as a carefully picked chassis, a great basis with low mileage and excellent condition, perfect for a well-suited performance build. Built for both circuit racing and canyon driving, it features a bored and stroked 2.8L version of the legendary 2.6L RB26 N1 engine, with ported and polished head, twin enlarged turbochargers, fortified rods, pistons and cams, and a host of other performance enhancements that unleash serious horsepower. This Skyline also received a custom calibrated standalone HKS ECU to control the host of engine upgrades to this impressive powerplant.

The 5-speed manual transmission has been rebuilt with an aftermarket clutch to handle the extra output, while the chassis has been fine-tuned with an AP Racing big brake kit, custom HKS suspension, anti-roll bars, and stylish Top Secret spec Italian built OZ Racing 10-spoke wheels wrapped in ultra-grippy, Bridgestone low-profile tires.

Most custom builds from performance tuning shop Top Secret Japan are finished in their signature gold livery, where this version stays extremely unique as one of their rare examples, known as 'Yuki Chan' finished in white with black lower-sill striping. The right-hand drive cabin is race-ready yet refined, featuring factory bucket seats, well-appointed steering wheel and shifter, custom glove-compartment gauges, and a full roll cage. This example of the legendary Skyline legacy, showing very low mileage of under 40,000 kilometers on the clock, is a hard-to-find example of the forbidden JDM fruit found in the United States.

Rare, purposeful, and thrilling to drive, this Skyline R32 GT-R represents a truly exceptional piece of Japanese tuning history and is arguably worthy of supercar status.
