While the latest Ford GT is a stunning performer that entered production with the 2016 GTLM class win at Le Mans already to its credit, the Ford GT MkII launched in 2020 as “the most advanced and exclusive Ford track car ever,” according to the company announcement. Hand-built by Multimatic in Markham, Ontario, where the Ford GT race cars were engineered and built, Ford GT MkII production was limited to a 45-vehicle run with a $1.2 million MSRP. The MkII mission is direct: to deliver the full performance potential of the Ford GT in a track-only version, engineered and built independently of the usual race-series rules, regulations and homologation limitations associated with such cars.
Car No. 12 of the 45-car Ford GT MkII production batch, this electrifying, track-only GT MkII is not subject to the Ford two-year resale restriction period applicable to the “tamer” street model. Offered with 334 miles and less than eight hours of usage, this stunning 2020 Ford GT MkII features the unbridled twin-turbocharged 3.5L/700 HP EcoBoost engine delivering the GT’s true potential, not limited to racing sanctioning bodies.
Visually stunning in its white exterior finish, protected by film and ceramic coating, the GT MkII features a purposeful black interior with Sparco driver and optional passenger seats with six-point harnesses, a cooling system for driver and passenger, an in-car communication system and a MoTeC data acquisition unit with a rear display camera, within an FIA-compliant roll cage structure. Race-derived MkII aerodynamics include an enlarged EVO front splitter, dual-element rear wing, carbon fiber front fender louvers, underfloor and dive planes, collectively delivering 400% more downforce than the “standard” Ford GT.
A high-capacity, air-to-air, outboard-mounted charge air cooler features water spray technology, and the special roof-mounted air intake feeds the MkII’s auxiliary engine, clutch and transmission coolers. Brembo 4-wheel carbon ceramic disc brakes provide anchor-like stopping and handling is awesome with race-derived, five-way adjustable DSSV dampers by Multimatic with high-speed blow-off. An internal jack system allows quick pit stops and accompanying items include a jack wand, safety stand, wheel skates and a MkII car cover. Two sets of gold aluminum alloy wheels with ceramic coating are included.
Track contact is provided by Michelin racing tires, consistent with the competition flavor of this extremely rare special-edition GT. Paperwork includes a document binder with Multimatic invoices, plus service receipts from a racing shop in direct contact with Multimatic, the car’s builder.
