Produced on June 6, 2005 for export to North America, this stunningly beautiful 2005 Ferrari 575 Superamerica is one of a limited edition of 559 built in part to commemorate Ferrari’s six consecutive Formula 1 World Championships. The Superamerica name has always been reserved for Ferrari’s most exclusive and most powerful luxury Grand Tourers, a qualification met in whole by the 2005 version. Unveiled at the Los Angeles and Detroit Auto Shows in 2003, the Superamerica was a derivation of the 575 Maranello coupe that used Ferrari’s powerful and silky-smooth 5.5L V-12 engine.
Rated at 515 HP in the 575 Maranello, its output was raised to 540 HP at 7,250 RPM in the Superamerica by increasing intake flow rates and reducing exhaust back pressure. Coupled with either a 6-speed manual transmission or the paddle-shifted, computer controlled F1 automatic, the V-12 powered the Superamerica to 60 MPH in 4.2 seconds and 199 MPH top speed. Independent front and rear suspension with coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers with adaptive damping and anti-roll bars, combined to keep the world’s fastest convertible planted at speed.
Superamerica owners can let the sun in with the Fioravanti-designed Revocromico, an elegantly designed rotating roof panel with variable-tint electrochromatic glass. It rotates backwards and down into a recess in the trunk lid, while the back glass remains in place to shield passengers from the wind. With the top up, the driver can adjust for five different levels of tint from clear to virtually opaque. A two owner example sold new at Ferrari of Central Florida, this 2005 Superamerica has travelled just 7,952 miles, a fact reflected in its pristine overall presentation.
Loaded with power options and finished in Grigio Titano with a superb carbon fiber-accented Cuoio leather interior, it is the ultimate expression of the exciting and highly successful Maranello lineage.
