The original Golf Mk1, designed by the Italian Giorgetto Giugiaro, was a front-wheel drive, front-engined replacement for the immortal air-cooled, rear-engined, rear-wheel drive Volkswagen Beetle. Historically, the Golf is Volkswagen's best-selling model and the world's third best-selling model.Like this car, production of the Golf was initially in the 3-door hatchback style, but the cars have filled many market segments, from basic personal cars, to high-performance hot hatches.

The first generation Mk.1 Golf, as offered here today, was produced between 1974 and 1983, this being a late 1983 car. Resplendent in Mars Red with tartan red & black cloth interior this 95,000 mile car with full supporting main dealer Volkswagen service history will take some beating to be bettered in condition. Surprisingly, this car, though immaculate in its condition and reportedly flawless in its performance is completely unmodified and entirely original... making it a very rare car, and one that many would be very proud to own.
