The Ferrari F12tdf is a limited-production, track-focused variant of the F12 Berlinetta, with the “tdf” designation paying homage to the Tour de France road race that Ferrari dominated in the 1950s and 1960s. Produced from 2015-2017, only 799 examples were built, making it highly exclusive, even by Ferrari standards. At its thundering heart is a naturally aspirated 6.3L V-12 engine producing 769 HP and 520 lb-ft of torque—an increase of 39 HP over the standard F12. Mated to an F1 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, this powertrain hurls the F12tdf from zero to 60 MPH in just 2.9 seconds with a top speed exceeding 211 MPH.
This eyeball crushing speed is facilitated by shorter gear ratios for more aggressive acceleration. Weight reduction was paramount, with the F12tdf shedding approximately 240 pounds through the extensive use of carbon fiber in the bodywork, lighter glass and stripped interior elements. Aerodynamic enhancements include a more aggressive front splitter, distinctive side skirts and a prominent rear diffuser, improving downforce by 87% compared to the standard F12, while handling was sharpened through rear-wheel steering, revised suspension tuning and stickier Pirelli tires.
