Original one-owner 1988 BMW M5 with only 87,249 actual miles. It is one of only 1,239 produced for the U.S.; about 2,200 were produced worldwide. The E28 M5's were hand-built by BMW Motorsport and, at that time, was the fastest production sedan in the world. It has a top speed of 152 mph and a 0-60 time of 6.5 seconds. BMW dropped in the M1 supercar's 24-valve 3.5-liter racing engine under the hood. The 256hp S38B35 inline-6 engine is mated to a Getrag '280/5' 5-speed manual transmission. The M5 suspension was tuned by BMW Motorsport to include thicker rolls bars, beefier springs and an automatic load-leveling system.

The ABS-equipped brakes were upgraded to vented front rotors with 4-piston calipers. The special alloy 'basket-weave' BBS wheels were standard on the M5 and remain original to this car. All of the U.S. M5 sedans have a black exterior and all but about 30 have the 'Natur' (natural tan) extended leather interior. The standard equipment includes air conditioning, power seats, cruise control, sunroof, ABS brakes, BBS alloy wheels, a leather interior featuring RECARO front seats and an eight-speaker AM/FM cassette stereo system. This M5 has the original standard equipment and only option offered by BMW, heated seats.

This M5 has been meticulously maintained by BMW mechanics and garage-kept in California its entire life. It is in excellent original condition inside and out. There are no rips or tears in the leather seats, no cracks in the dash, and the body and glass are shiny and clear. It has never been in an accident and the CARFAX report is clean. All the service and repair records, owner's manual, tool kit, and even a copy of the original purchase agreement and California 'pink slip' Certificate of Title will be provided with the car.
