The Bentley Speed 8 was an award-winning prototype racing car that was designed by Peter Elleray and developed and built in the UK. The EXP Speed 8 debuted in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2001 and its development successor, the Bentley Speed 8, won the race in 2003. It has a strong resemblance to and shares some technology with the Audi R8C, which had raced only once before Audi dropped the project to focus on the later dominant Audi R8. The EXP Speed 8 marked Bentley’s return to the 24 Hours of Le Mans after victory there 71 years prior. Offered for sale are two Bentley Speed 8 replicas and a carbon fibre tub.
These have been authenticated as having come out of the Team Bentley factory in Norwich. 2003 Bentley Speed 8 GRP Replica This stunning, full-size, non-working model of the Bentley Speed 8 number 7 car – the 2003 Le Mans winner – has no mechanicals and appears to be very well detailed with full livery. It is thought this example travelled extensively as a display car. Looking at the detail it is easy to understand the appeal of such a unique piece. This GRP replica was built in August 2002 and unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September 2002 as the first reveal of the 2003 race car shape. It was then subsequently used by the company as an official exhibit both home and abroad.
It must be stated though there is no chassis number on the car. Offered for sale without reserve, interested parties are advised to inspect this model personally.
