Powered by a 3.8L/545 HP twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with paddle shifters and all-wheel drive, the GT-R is held in check by a set of Brembo 6-piston brakes up front with 4-piston calipers biting down on the rear rotors, a Bilstein Damptronic electronically-adjusted suspension, traction control, vehicle dynamics control and a special dry carbon fiber rear spoiler designed to deliver exceptional downforce at higher speeds. The unique Midnight Opal paint is likely the most noticeable part of the Special Edition package, a multitude of colored flakes shimmering across the exceedingly dark purple color, a few of the flakes being of an orange color, which is echoed by the paint used on the calipers. The GT-R treats its passengers to a heated eight-way-adjustable driver seat and a four-way-adjustable passenger seat, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, a Bose audio system, a Nissan hard drive navigation system with a 7-inch color display and a dual-zone climate control system. Another element that defines the Midnight Opal package is the Hyper Titanium-finished forged alloy wheels wrapped with low-profile rubber. Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Nissan at the time, decided it was time to not only resurrect the GT-R name to excite enthusiasts about the Nissan brand but to develop a truly world-class sports GT that could rival and even better the world’s best from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Corvette. Taking roughly seven years to develop, the GT-R made its debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show and began arriving at showrooms in December 2007 for the Japanese market, July 2008 for the American market and March 2009 for the European market. Costing in the $100,000 neighborhood, the GT-R was not inexpensive; however, in no time at all it proved its salt as being one of the world’s penultimate sport scars, meeting goals of being among the quickest, best handling and even fastest cars ever built. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1122088/2014-nissan-gt-r-midnight-opal-special-edition/
Chassis No.: JN1AR5EF5FM281804 • Exterior: Black • Interior: Black/red • 755 miles • Twin turbocharged 3.8L/545 HP V-6 engine • Dual-clutch paddle shift 6-speed automatic transmission • ATTESA E-TS all wheel drive System • Independent front and rear suspension • Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes • 20-inch forged aluminum wheels • Bilstein Damptronic shock absorbers • Recaro leather sport seats • Finished in Black with Red accents • Power mirrors • Black painted 6-spoke wheels • Front and rear spoilers • Must be sold to an out of state resident or licensed dealer Even since Nissan introduced the KPGC10 Skyline GT-R to the Japanese home market in 1969, Americans have pined for the lightweight, high-revving and tight-handling machines, forced to wait the 25 requisite years when they could finally legally be imported to American shores without having to pass U.S. emission and NHTSA safety laws. It wouldn’t be until 2007, at the Tokyo Motor Show, when Nissan dropped a couple of bombs on the motoring press. First, the 2009 GT-R would be officially imported to America and, second, a 2009 GT-R had lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife (aka the Green Hell) with a lap time of 7:38, beating the all-time sports classic Porsche 911 Turbo. Fast forward to November 2013, when Nissan took the wraps off the new GT-R NISMO—a 600 HP Godzilla killer holding the world's volume production vehicle lap record at Nürburgring with a 7:08.679 lap time. With power coming from a 3.8L V-6 sporting twin turbos lifted from the GT-R GT3 race car and funneling power to a rear-mounted, paddle-shifted dual-clutch 6-speed semi-automatic gearbox (designed by BorgWarner and built by AMI), the NISMO rips the pavement with an ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system. The car speeds from 0-60 MPH in a mere 2.5 seconds and demolishes the quarter mile in 11.1 seconds at 125.3 MPH. This GT-R, finished in Jet Black Pearl with red accents, has only accrued 755 miles on the clock since departing the factory. The GT-R NISMO isn’t just about going fast, but exceptional handling as well. Built on Nissan's Premium Midship (PM) platform, the hybrid unibody is assembled on ultra-low-tolerance jigs, similar to those used in race car construction, with die-cast aluminum front shock towers, a carbon-composite front cross member and Bilstein DampTronic shocks with Track, Race and Race Plus modes, hollow anti-roll bars and a stiffer set of springs over the base GT-R. Brembo disc brakes are found on all corners, helping to slow the 20-inch wheels shod in Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 tires. Inside, front passengers are deftly held in place by a set of Recaro black leather sport seats with red Alcantara inserts, part of the Premium Interior Package, the driver receiving a multi-function black Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, full gauge package and secondary controls angled towards the left seat. The centerpiece of the instrument panel is a video game-inspired, multi-function display that was created in collaboration with Polyphony Digital, makers of the Gran Turismo electronic game. https://www.mecum.com/lots/446438/2015-nissan-gtr-nismo/
