The 911 GT3 RS is Porsche’s ultimate intersection of race and road car, conceived to comply with FIA homologation rules for the GT3 class. The type-991.1 generation of the GT3 RS added to the success of the standard GT3 model with various incremental improvements. Distinctive front wing louvers and a larger rear spoiler improved aerodynamics. Wider front and rear tracks, rear-axle steering, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus combined with a fully variable rear limited-slip differential to increase agility and dynamics.
Perhaps the most compelling upgrade compared to the standard 911 GT3 was the increased displacement of the vaunted flat-six engine from 3.8 to 4.0 litres, resulting in an impressive output of 500 brake horsepower. Much to the die-hard enthusiasts’ chagrin, there was no provision for a manual gearbox; the excellent seven-speed PDK transmission was the only available offering. The interior featured leather-lined carbon-fibre bucket seats with Alcantara inserts and the full Clubsport treatment, with a roll cage, six-point harness for the driver, and a floor-mounted fire extinguisher, among other track-focused equipment.
The example offered here, produced for the German market, appears to be in almost-new condition, showing a mere 137 kilometres on the odometer at the time of cataloguing. Making it even more desirable, the car is finished in Ultraviolet with the unique Le Mans psychedelic “Hippie” livery patterned after the Martini Racing livery of the legendary long-tail 917 racecar that competed in the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Factory options include an extended-range fuel tank, Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB), the Sound Package Plus, black seatbelts, six-point harness for the passenger, Homelink garage-door opener, belt outlet trim in Alcantara, Porsche Communication Management including navigation module, wheels painted in Satin Black, LED headlights in black with Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus, storage compartment lid in Alcantara with Porsche logo, and sun visors in Alcantara.
Acquired by the consignor in June 2016, this 911 GT3 RS 4.0 has formed an integral part of The Carrera Collection and is surely one of the most unique examples of its type to recently come to market.
Der 911 GT3 RS ist Porsches ultimative Mischung aus Renn- und Straßenfahrzeug und wurde zur Erfüllung der FIA-Homologationsvorschriften für die GT3-Klasse entwickelt. Die Generation 991.1 des GT3 RS knüpfte mit verschiedenen Verbesserungen an den Erfolg des Serien GT3 an. So verbessern zum Beispiel markante Frontflügel-Lamellen und ein größerer Heckspoiler die Aerodynamik. Eine breitere Spur vorne und hinten, die Hinterachslenkung und das Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus in Kombination mit einem voll variablen Sperrdifferenzial an der Hinterachse sorgen für mehr Agilität und Dynamik.
Das vielleicht überzeugendste Upgrade im Vergleich zum Standard 911 GT3 war der von 3,8 auf 4,0 Liter vergrößerte Hubraum des hochgelobten Sechszylinder-Boxers, was zu einer beeindruckenden Leistung von 500 PS führte. Zum Leidwesen der eingefleischten Porsche Fans gab es kein manuelles Getriebe mehr, sondern nur noch die Wahl des exzellenten Siebengang-PDK. Der Innenraum war mit lederbezogenen Kohlefaser-Schalensitzen mit Alcantara-Einsätzen und der kompletten Clubsport-Ausstattung versehen, zu der unter anderem ein Überrollkäfig, ein Sechspunktgurt für den Fahrer und ein Feuerlöscher gehörten, sowie weiteres auf den Einsatz auf der Rennstrecke ausgerichtetes Zubehör.
Das hier angebotene Exemplar für den deutschen Markt scheint sich in einem fast neuen Zustand zu befinden und zeigte zum Zeitpunkt der Katalogisierung lediglich 137 Kilometer auf dem Kilometerzähler. Noch begehrenswerter wird der Wagen durch die Außenfarbe Ultraviolett mit einer einzigartigen psychedelischen „Hippie“-Lackierung, nachempfunden der Martini Racing-Lackierung des legendären 917 Langheck-Rennwagens, der 1970 bei den 24 Stunden von Le Mans antrat.
