This 1961 Pontiac Catalina custom convertible is powered by a 425A 389ci V8 engine block specially cast by Mickey Thompson Racing, topped with correct 538177 X-0 heads and Tri-Power carburetion, backed by a factory BorgWarner T10 4-speed manual transmission. The block features four-bolt mains and internal modifications including porting, polishing, relieving, balancing and Belanger headers with dual exhaust. The engine dyno-tested at over 400hp and 450 ft/lbs of torque. Additional features include an 11-inch clutch, Hurst shifter and a 3.23 Safe-T-Track posi-traction rear axle.
This Arizona car received a high-end, comprehensive restoration and was refinished in Bristol Blue basecoat/clearcoat. The tri-tone blue bucket-seat interior was fully redone, and the factory steering wheel and dash were restored. The car is also equipped with power steering, power brakes and an upgraded Pontiac stereo radio. Exterior trim is polished, chrome is new and the trunk is correctly restored. It rides on new Coker radial tires mounted on factory eight-lug wheels, and both the chassis and engine compartment are highly detailed. Restoration receipts are included.
