French classic car registration document One of Ercole Spada's most elegant and influential designs for Zagato Exceptionally well-presented example, benefitting from a comprehensive restoration. Restored by KCA Restauri (now Maximilian K Automobili), internationally recognised Lancia specialists Equipped with the desirable 2.8-litre triple-carburettor engine for enhanced performance. Retains and is accompanied by its original factory-installed 2.5-litre engine (MOT82300 2454) When unveiled in 1957, the Flaminia succeeded the iconic Aurelia and represented the pinnacle of Lancia's engineering expertise.

A true technological showcase for the Turin-based manufacturer, it retained the renowned V6 engine designed by Francesco De Virgilio and featured a highly sophisticated mechanical layout. Its exceptional high-speed stability and mechanical refinement quickly established it as one of the finest grand touring cars of its era. To give its new flagship a more sporting character, Lancia turned to Zagato. The Milanese coachbuilder entrusted the project to a young designer destined for greatness: Ercole Spada. Introduced in 1958, the Flaminia Sport Zagato immediately stood out with its low-slung, lightweight and aerodynamic silhouette.

Its distinctive "double-bubble" roof became one of Zagato's most celebrated design signatures, while its perfectly balanced proportions endowed the car with timeless elegance. Lighter and more performance-oriented than the other Flaminia variants, it appealed to discerning enthusiasts seeking a GT that combined exclusivity, sophistication and sporting character. The model's rarity plays a significant role in its present-day desirability. The original Flaminia Sport 2.5 was produced in just 199 examples, comprising 99 cars fitted with Plexiglas-covered headlights and approximately 100 second-series cars featuring exposed headlamps.

Chassis 824001515 belongs to this latter and highly exclusive series. Across all Sport and Super Sport variants, fewer than 600 examples were built by Zagato, a figure that places the Flaminia among the rarest and most sought-after post-war Lancias. The example offered here was first registered in November 1961. It retains its original 2,458cc V6 engine (MOT82300 2454). In order to preserve the car's historical integrity, the current owner has carefully retained this original power unit, which accompanies the car and will be delivered to its next custodian.

The Flaminia is presently fitted with a 2.8-litre engine equipped with triple carburettors, providing enhanced performance while remaining entirely faithful to the sporting spirit of the model. Before joining the collection of a French enthusiast a few years ago—acquired to replace a Maserati Mistral Spyder—this Flaminia Sport Zagato benefited from a complete restoration carried out by KCA in Italy. Widely regarded as one of the foremost specialists in the restoration of classic Lancias, and particularly Zagato-bodied examples, KCA returned the car to an outstanding standard of presentation, both cosmetically and mechanically.

On the road, the car is a delight to drive: the engine is smooth and flexible, the gearbox offers precise and rewarding shifts, and the brakes inspire confidence. Combined with the sophisticated suspension, these qualities provide a driving experience that is both engaging and remarkably comfortable. Rare, elegant and mechanically sophisticated, the Flaminia Sport Zagato is today regarded as one of the finest creations ever to emerge from the Milanese coachbuilder.

Combining all the attributes most prized by collectors—Ercole Spada's timeless design, limited production, expert restoration and the presence of its original engine—this example represents a particularly compelling opportunity for enthusiasts of great Italian GTs of the 1960s. Long overshadowed by contemporary Ferraris and Maseratis, the Flaminia Sport is now recognised as one of the most desirable Lancias ever produced. The retention of its original engine, together with its high-quality restoration by KCA, further enhances its appeal on today's collector car market.
