Cadillac’s Eldorado was introduced in 1953 as part of GM’s famed Motorama shows, and it quickly established itself as the last word in American automotive luxury at the time. In 1957, the Series 62 Eldorado was available in two- and four-door Seville Hardtop and Biarritz Convertible variants. With only 1,800 units produced at a base price of $7,286 each, the extravagant Biarritz Convertibles were both stunningly attractive and quite rare.

The car is powered by Cadillac’s strong 365-cid, 325-hp V-8 and fueled by dual four-barrel carburetors backed by a smooth shifting Hydra-Matic transmission. Suspension is fitted with independent front suspension and new shocks. The car has factory air conditioning; power steering, brakes, convertible top, windows and bench seat , plus an automatic trunk opener.

This particular cars exterior has been finished in red with wide whitewall tires, chrome bumpers and “shark fins.” The interior is finished in two-tone red and white and fitted with a pushbutton radio. Being the recipient of an older restoration, this car is still presented well and was reported as winning first place at a Cadillac Club Show several years ago.

Upon its unveiling, Cadillac’s 1957 Eldorado Biarritz symbolized both personal economic success and the post-war economic upswing of 1950s America.
