This is a car that has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife 8 seconds faster than the LMP-based Carrera GT. The featured 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is in “as-new” showroom condition with only 5,528 original miles and pays homage to its motorsports heritage with its distinctive Martini livery. The interior is appointed in black leather with Lava Orange accents, a white gauge cluster and carbon-fiber door-sill guards. Based on the current 991-generation platform, the 2016 911 GT3 RS immediately distinguishes itself from its predecessors with the wide body shared with its sister Turbo. The Turbo body enabled increased mechanical grip realized through wider contact-patch area that equals a 918 Spyder—specifically 325/30×21-inch tires mounted on 12.5-inch by 20-inch wheels in the rear and 265/30×20-inch tires mounted on 9.5-inch by 20-inch wheels in the front. The Turbo body also dramatically increased the high-speed aerodynamic downforce without sacrificing its slippery .34 coefficient of drag. This was achieved through the front-fender louvered vents that extract unwanted air from the wheel wells (thereby creating a low-pressure zone in the front), an extended front chin spoiler to add frontal downforce, an increased rear wing with side fences to add rear downforce and a 300mm “gully” in the front hood and roof area to help manage and direct overhead air passage. The car is also optioned with “Big Yellows,” extra-large 410mm brake calipers that are fitted to carbon-ceramic disc brakes. As a follow-up to the already successful Porsche 911 GT3 991.1, the RS variant first appeared in 2016. Although built with many of the same parts and components of the GT3, the RS version is a significantly different car. The most obvious difference was the new body shell sourced from the 911 Turbo that provided major opportunities for aerodynamic and mechanical improvements. The wider rear fenders allowed for an increased rear track and wider tires. The rear-fender side scoops—originally used to feed the intercoolers on the Turbo—were now employed on the GT3 RS to serve as ram-air conduits to the naturally aspirated engine. The front fenders featured prominent extractor vents that served to evacuate the high pressure that builds up in the front wheel-well housing. The front splitter was fenced along its vertical leading edge, properly directing air-flow. The rear consisted of a “Gurney-flap” integrated into the rear decklid with a large overhead rear wing which had prominent side fences to prevent air spillage. The cumulative effect of these changes doubled the aerodynamic downforce of the RS over that of the GT3 and delivers a substantial increase to high-speed stability and grip. The mechanical changes over the GT3 included an increase in displacement and horsepower—4.0L/500 HP versus 3.8L/475 HP. This 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is finished in paint-to-sample Mexico-Blue fitted with 20-inch center-lock wheels. The interior is a contrasting black with gray inserts.
