    Ferrari Testarossa, 1991

Chassis No.: 106AB*22513 Engine No.: F106A021 Registration: N/A It is anyone's guess as to the reason Ferrari favoured Bertone as the design house for its new 2+2 GT, the 308GT4, the successor to the 246GT and the Dino 308GT4 that made its first appearance at the Paris Salon in 1973. The public had mixed views over the sharp angular lines from the pen of Bertone that substituted the beautiful flowing curves of the Pininfarina 246.In October 1975, Ferrari presented its new 308GTB at the Paris Salon. A return to Pininfarina for the body styling that pleased many Ferrari fans. In the first two years of 308 production, Ferrari used glass reinforced plastic (GRP) body panels. These Vetroresina examples are now extremely desirable. Ferrari updated the 308 model to 328 in 1985. In the early eighties, the Porsche 935’s were dominating the racing scene, so in 1981 Martino Finotto and Carlo Facetti teamed up to build a Ferrari 308GTB capable of taking on the mighty 935’s. The team used a three litre 308 as a base, built a lightweight body and reworked the engine adding two turbos. This car first appeared at the Daytona 24 Hours in 1981. For qualifying, Facetti turned the boost up to gain an output of over 800bhp. Spectators were astonished to see the Ferrari place 6th on the grid. After setting the fastest lap of the race, the Ferrari had to return to the pits on lap five with a mechanical issue. This 1977, 308 GTB dry sump, carburettor example has spent much of it life as a race car. Starting life Innocently enough as a road going 308 GTB demonstrator with Maranello in Egham, this 308 was then swiftly turned into a competition replica of the the 1981 Daytona car. For much of its race history, it was successfully campaigning in New-Zealand. Within a race journal, we can find that a Stuart McCondach had some success ,scoring a win in the MRNZ summer motor racing series at Manfeild Aotocourse. Many other results from countless races can be found alongside tyre setup and maintenance details between 1994-2002, with further details in a second journal until 2014. Presented within the staggering history file, you will discover period photographs, engineer’s notes from every race and test session, Dyno-graphs from each modification or post engine refresh. You will also discover a scrutineer’s card with 60 race events and engineering drawings relating to the bespoke engine build. In addition there is a Historic Technical Passport which specified this car to race in T&C Group 3 races alongside correspondence from the Automobilie Club D'Italia and Federation Internationale du Sport Automobile. Reading further into the cars extensive history file, it suggests that the owner of this car obtained sponsorship from a specialist fibreglass facility, A.C Fibreglass in New Zealand and over time the car has been updated with fibreglass body panels. These panels appear to be of a very high quality and allow for a considerable weight reduction, this modification permits a far greater scope for geometry settings, especially on the rear of the car. Currently the car is fitted with safety devices specific to the period and regulations of its last races in New-Zealand, including welded safety cage, extinguisher and electrical cut-offs. This package is proven itself competitive and has been developed over the years and fully documented with all documentation found within the journals. Much of this car has been re-engineered to an extremely high standard and we advised that any interested party inspect this car in person to familiars themselves with the considerable history file and the overwhelming upgrades. Offered with this spectacular example is a set of 13 slick tyres and four further spare Gotti wheels with intermediate tyres and various other spares. https://www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/?lot=8851&au=11

    Ferrari Testarossa, 1987

Chassis No.: ZFFAA17C000071261 Engine No.: F113B00404 Introduced at the 1984 Paris Salon, the Testarossa caused a sensation. The functionality of its Pininfarina styled bodywork was disguised by a wealth of flamboyant and futuristic detailing. Developed with the aid of a wind tunnel, it combined a low drag-coefficient with impressive negative lift characteristics. The first twelve-cylinder Ferrari to be marketed in America for a decade, the new flagship was of vital importance to Maranello. Although it was built around a similar tubular steel matrix, it retained the same mid-engined layout as its Berlinetta Boxer forebears. The Testarossa was more than just a simple evolution, its use of galvanised steel for the doors, roof and bulkheads promised greater longevity while a longer wheelbase, wider track and revised all-round, double-wishbone, coil-over suspension promoted better handling. As well as greater interior space, drivers also benefited from an adjustable steering column, re-profiled seats and air conditioning. Mounting the drive train and rear suspension on a separate sub-frame meant better noise insulation and easier servicing. The switch from a large front-mounted radiator to twin units housed in front of each rear resulted in more efficient cooling and less heat soak. Extensively reworked, the 4942cc, flat-12 developing some 390bhp and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. Highly praised by the contemporary motoring press, Autocar magazine found the Testarossa capable of 181mph and 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. Presented in Rosso Corsa with Nero leather, this sub-41,000 miles from new example is an early, rare single nut 'knock-off' magnesium alloy wheel car. Tony Willis, highly respected Ferrari aficionado, has confirmed this Ferrari to be a genuine UK car which can be identified by the letter 'C' in the chassis number. Originally supplied by Maranello Concessionaires via dealer transfer to its first home in New Zealand before being repatriated some two years ago to the UK, it then underwent a major bumper-to-bumper recommissioning service at SMDG, renowned Ferrari specialists based in Horsham. A comprehensive history file accompanies this Ferrari along with all its original books and tools. Copy invoices are present for all works undertaken and, in addition, there are invoices for brakes, tyres and other works completed during its pampered life. The car's excellent service history demonstrates low usage over the year with no expense spared in maintenance and upkeep. The car has recently been to SMDG Ferrari specialists for a full service including engine out, cam belts and ancillary items with excess of £7,000 spent. The car has also previously undergone works to the suspension including removing and re-coating all parts to as new condition. The vendor states that this example looks and drives as you would expect and welcomes any early inspection. This is a great opportunity to acquire a highly desirable early Testarossa in great condition throughout. https://www.historics.co.uk/auction/lot/?lot=8808&au=11

Chassis No.: ZFFAA17C000090484 Engine No.: 27849 Registration: K795 FAR Sold £128,800 | Sold Introduced at the 1984 Paris Salon, the Testarossa caused a sensation. Highly praised by the contemporary motoring press, Autocar magazine found the Testarossa capable of 181mph and 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds. Presented in, what many believe to be, the best combination of Ferrari Rosso Corsa with Crema leather interior, this very low mileage, original right hand drive UK Testarossa can only be described as in excellent condition throughout. First registered in February 1993 with Stratstone of Wilmslow, K795 FAR was with the previous owner from the summer of 2013, he purchased the car from a private collection. Having spent 16 years in the collection, the car was re-commissioned with attention to detail high on the list of priorities and, in 2014, was subject to a full cambelt service by renowned Ferrari mechanic and Maranello trained, John Greatorex. The current owner purchased the car in 2016 and added it to his collection, believed to have only covered 13,900 miles from new. Wanting his cars to be as near perfect as possible he sent the car in 2017 to Maranello in Egham where the engine was removed, given a cambelt service, the brakes overhauled, the suspension all gone through replacing all the bushes, removing the shock absorbers and springs, fitting two new rear shock absorbers and refitting the front shocks after checking and cleaning, checked through the fuel system replacing the fuel filters and renewing a fuel pipe which had to be made at the Ferrari factory. Fitting a new set of Michelin tyres and a new battery, all at a cost of £35,000 with the odometer reading 14,097 miles. In June 2018 the Testarossa returned to Maranello and was stripped down and repainted at a cost of £30,000, a further £2,000 spent on mechanical items before the year had finished and the odometer reading 14,428 miles. Since 2020 it has been fully maintained and serviced by Universal Classic Cars in Hampshire to keep this Testarossa one of the best in the world. It is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in June 2024 and a file containing invoices from 2017 onwards, brochures and handbooks and a statement from a mechanic who worked on the car when it was recommissioned in 2014 after being in a collection. This example can be considered a genuine collector's example and is sure to attract attention not only from the UK, but also worldwide.
