    Maserati MC12, 2005

Chassis No.: ZAMDF44B000017561 • Exterior: Black • Interior: Blue • The only MC12 finished in Metallic Black • One of 50 produced • 1,322 actual kilometers • Naturally aspirated 6.0L V-12 engine • Cambiocorsa transmission • Removable roof panel • Power windows • Keys and books • Car cover • Battery charger Maserati’s MC12 signaled the legendary Italian manufacturer’s return to international auto racing, but rather than begin with a clean sheet of paper, the company built the MC12 on an already-existing platform. Not another Maserati, mind you, but the astounding Ferrari Enzo. Perhaps more surprising is the path the MC12 followed from originating as a Ferrari, being transformed to a full-bore racer and then re-engineered as a homologation car. What is important is the result, which is nothing less than one of the most capable and distinctive genuine supercars ever built. As dictated by its primary mission, Giorgetto Giugiaro and Frank Stephenson designed the MC12 around FIA/ALMS rules, producing a long, low shape that improved upon the Enzo’s ability to slice through the air with ballistic efficiency while using a detuned version of the Enzo’s 650 HP V-12. Mounted amidships and gulping its intake charge from a roof-mounted “persiscoop,” the Maserati’s 625-horsepower engine is mated to a paddle-shifted Cambiocorsa 6-speed transmission, driving the rear wheels only but delivering 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds and topping out at 205 MPH. The interior belies the car’s racing pedigree with a mixture of supple perforated Blue leather, carbon fiber and “Brightex,” a material that approximates the latter’s woven appearance but is soft and compliant. In one of the world’s most exclusive clubs, this Maserati MC12 stands out as its most exclusive member. It is the only one finished in Black; all 49 other cars were completed in White with Blue accents. With a mere 1,300 kilometers, it is as fresh as the day it was produced, and in this case, the only one of its kind. https://www.mecum.com/lots/219895/2005-maserati-mc12/

    Maserati MC12, 2004

Chassis No.: ZAMDF44B000012099 • Exterior: White/Blue • Interior: Blue • Sold with title • Upgraded to street legal specification under Maserati factory assistance at a cost of more than $250,000 • Comprehensive DOT and EPA paperwork • 1 of 50 produced between 2004-2005 • 1,200 kilometers since new • Service records • 6.0L V-12 engine • 6-speed Cambiocorsa transmission • Sport and Race modes • Bianco Fuji with Blue accents • Blue leather and Silver Brightex • Gel-coated carbon fiber interior trim • Removable roof panel • Personalized MC12 book from Maserati If this 2004 Maserati MC12 seems too exotic for the street, it is for the simple reason that the legendary Italian carmaker built it for the singular purpose of re-entering the international racing arena, namely the FIA GT World Championship, and then adapted the design to road use for homologation. Only in that context do the MC12’s long, ankle-high nose, high-spoilered tail and straked intake scoops explain themselves to the uninitiated. Developed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Maserati’s chief designer Frank Stephenson in accordance with FIA/ALMS regulations, the MC12 was based on the brilliant Ferrari Enzo platform, but the car’s long, low silhouette cleaves the air with even greater efficiency than the Enzo, and features a removable roof panel that transforms it into a handsome open tourer. The Enzo also contributed the MC12’s powerplant, a 65-degree V-12 with double overhead cams, four valves per cylinder, sequential port fuel injection and dry sump oiling. While pumping out some 25 fewer horses than the Ferrari version, the MC12’s 625 HP output is saddled with 100 fewer pounds than the Enzo, allowing the car to leap to 60 MPH in 3.8 seconds and top out at 205 MPH, figures aided by the slick-shifting “Cambiocorsa” 6-speed semi-automatic transmission. Built of carbon fiber and Nomex, the MC12’s monocoque incorporates aluminum sub-structures locating all-independent wishbone suspension with pushrod coil springs and dampers. The system is adjustable from the cockpit, giving drivers the choice of standard Sport and more serious Race Modes, the latter featuring reduced input from the Bosch Anti-Slip Regulation traction control system, stiffer spring rates and crisper shifts. In contrast to its Speed Racer looks, the MC12 boasts a supremely comfortable interior environment comprising supple perforated Blue leather, gel-coated carbon fiber trim and Silver “Brightex”, a material that approximates carbon fiber’s woven appearance but is soft and compliant. One of 50 produced through 2004-2005, this 2004 Maserati MC12 is finished in Bianco Fuji with Blue accents. Upgraded to street legal specification under Maserati factory assistance at a cost of more than $250,000 and offered with comprehensive DOT and EPA paperwork as well as service records, this stunning car sports a mere 1,200 kilometers this is a virtually untouched example of the car that earned Maserati the first GT World Manufacturer’s Championship in its long and glorious history. https://www.mecum.com/lots/261993/2004-maserati-mc12/

    Maserati MC12, 2005

Chassis No.: ZAMDF44B000019406 $9,460,000 | Sold • Odometer: 515 km • Engine: V-12 • Transmission: Automatic • Exterior: Bianco Fuji/Blu Victory • Interior: Blu/Silver/Gray • Odometer reads 515 kilometers • U.S. EPA certified and offered on a U.S. title from Washington State • Unveiled at the 2004 Geneva International Motor Show • One of the second batch of 25 units produced in 2005 • Mid-engined, naturally aspirated 6.0L/630 HP V-12 engine • Aluminum crankcase • Titanium connecting rods • 6-speed Cambiocorsa automatic transmission with paddle shifters • Stress-bearing carbon fiber and Nomex honeycomb chassis • Carbon fiber bodywork • Bianco Fuji and Blu Victory exterior • Removable hard top • Blu leather with Silver/Gray Brightex upholstery • Independent wishbone front and rear suspension with anti-dive and anti-squat geometries • 4-wheel Brembo cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes The fastest Maserati ever produced, the stunning MC12 debuted at the 2004 Geneva International Motor Show and was built in a special run of just 50 “Stradale” road cars from 2004 to 2005. Closely based on the Ferrari Enzo, the MC12 returned Maserati to international FIA-sanctioned GT racing, with 12 built for competition. Underneath its dramatically styled and aerodynamically functional carbon fiber bodywork, the MC12 was based upon a stress-bearing carbon fiber and Nomex honeycomb chassis. Power was delivered by the Ferrari-Maserati M144A V-12 engine—a slightly modified version of that found in the Ferrari Enzo—mid-mounted and rated at 630 HP, paired with a 6-speed “Cambiocorsa” automated manual gearbox with paddle shifters. Other cutting-edge features included a lightweight aluminum crankcase and titanium connecting rods. Handling the MC12’s formidable power and performance are an independent front and rear wishbone suspension with anti-dive and anti-squat geometries, with stopping provided by Brembo cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes at all four corners. An initial 25-car production batch of MC12 “Stradale” road models was completed in 2004. Following a change in FIA regulations, reducing maximum length, another 25 MC12s came in 2005, now measuring 150mm shorter than before. The MC12 entered competition in late 2004, winning the FIA GT race held at the Zhuhai International Circuit. While the MC12 was entered into the 2005 American Le Mans Series, it exceeded size restrictions and suffered penalties due to its excess fuel range. Finished in Bianco Fuji and Blu Victory over Blu leather with silver/gray Brightex upholstery, this extremely rare Italian supercar’s odometer reads just 515 kilometers at the time of writing. One of the second batch of 25 shorter units produced in 2005, this electrifying MC12 is EPA-certified and offered on a Washington State title. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1170362/2005-maserati-mc12
