The Alfa Romeo Gran Turismo Veloce (GTV), designed by Enrico Fumia at Pininfarina, was planned to re-establish the sporty coupé tradition of Alfa Romeo for the 1990s. The GTV's name placed it as the successor to the long-discontinued Alfetta GTV coupé and with a typical Italian design many journalists commented that Alfa had improved the overall build quality considerably, coming very close to equalling its German rivals. The car was indeed favorably received by the written press with the Alfa Romeo GTV listed as #29 in Jeremy Clarkson's 'Top 100 Cars' from 2001.
In 2001 Alfa Romeo produced just 419 limited edition Cup examples inspired by a one-model Alfa GTV Cup race series, both 2.0litre and the more desirable 3.0litre V6. Just 180 of these examples were 3.0 V6 24V examples and only 155 in right hand drive 3.0 V6 cars were only in red while 2.0 TS cars were mostly silver with few examples in red.
Number 020 of 419 this beautiful and rare example of the 3.0V6 24v Cup edition is presented in unmarked Rosso Red having been recently cosmetically restored, it is one of very few good examples left on the road today and is set to be a sought after fast appreciating classic. The previous owners have been fastidious in there care with a full service history until 2013 and 76,000 miles compromising of 10 stamps from Ala Romeo and recognised specialists Pro Alfa and Auto Lusso. Since 2013 the car has been used only as a weekend/garage queen before its light cosmetic restoration and mechanical refresh this past winter.
Mechanically this GTV has had its necessary Cam Belt and water pump change and recently has had mechanically any previous advisory's seen to and repaired if necessary which included new clutch, Brake pads and discs all round, shock absorber and electronic diagnosis this coupled with a new service and fresh MoT with importantly no advisories. Offered with handbooks and stamped service book, two keys, nearly new tyres and looking as good as new this is a rare opportunity to purchase the ultimate Alfa GTV edition, a car that was released to commemorate the five million lire entry , Italian Supertourismo Championship.
