The 1600cc Super 90 engine specification heightened performance and drivability to match. This 1962 Porsche 356B Super 90 is a fabulous example of one of the most desirable Porsche models of the early 1960s with a comprehensive, no-expense-spared, nut-and-bolt restoration by Porsche 356 marque specialist Thomas Drummond. Featuring a Karmann-built body, this Southern California car was delivered new at Competition Motors of Hollywood, California. Original nomenclature restored hardware was used throughout the restoration, and the 356 is powered by a rebuilt, matching-numbers 1582cc Super 90 flat 4-cylinder engine and rebuilt 4-speed manual gearbox/rear transaxle including a rebuilt shift mechanism, shift coupler and throttle linkage. The Heron Grey exterior paint was applied by a Porsche 356 body and paint specialist to concours-quality standards, color-sanded and polished. Part of the top-quality work included bagging and taping of the entire car prior to undercoating being applied to the underbody, hood, engine compartment and interior floor pans. The green leather interior features the correct black underside finish to the dashboard, green German square-weave carpets, an optional wood steering wheel with Deluxe horn button, and a restored Blaupunkt radio in place of the original radio-delete plate. Restoration of the body, interior, suspension and mechanical systems was exceptionally thorough and detailed, yielding an outstanding finished vehicle with far too many details to list in full here, including a large selection of original, restored and new pieces. Documents and accompanying items are many, including the Porsche factory-issued Kardex build sheet, a correct green Reutter key fob, restored 1962 Porsche tool bag, a tire pressure gauge and a restored jack. The 1962 owner’s manual features a red Porsche cover. Rounding out the many highlights of this exactingly restored 1962 Porsche 356B Super 90 Coupe is a license plate frame from Competition Motors, where the vehicle was sold new in Hollywood. https://www.mecum.com/lots/1124493/1962-porsche-356b-super-90-coupe/
