The Subaru Impreza was launched in Japan in November 1992. This new model was offered as either front wheel or all wheel drive and as either a four door saloon or five door hatchback. Based on the floor pan of a shortened version of the Subaru Legacy, the car was originally to be called the Loyale. The trim levels were LX, GL, and Sport and were offered with a choice of either 1.6, 1.8 or 2.0 litre engines. In 1996, the 1.8 litre version was dropped in the European market and replaced by a 2.0 litre version.
This 1996, 2.0 litre, Subaru Impreza GL was imported from Japan in June 2000. The DVLA records show this Impreza as having only one UK owner. Presented to auction from a private collection, this Subaru was discovered in a barn on the owners estate and appears to have not been touched for some time. This car would require a full recommissioning in order to be enjoyed as it was intended. Presented to auction with the original Japanese service book, this GL is offered at no reserve.
