This 1968 Porsche 912 Coupe has been retained in the care of a single family for 30 years. Harry “Hank” Plude of Huntington Beach, California, purchased this 912 in the early 1990s from a resident of Walnut, California, who is believed to be its original owner. Hank cared for the Porsche like it was his only child. It was driven to the donut shop and local Porsche club gatherings, but it was always garaged and covered when not being driven, never driven in the rain or left in the sun. Hank loved this car with his heart and soul, and he knew what was needed to keep it running well. While in high school, Hank was always tinkering with the family cars.

Hank was drafted in 1968 right out of high school and served his duty in Korea during the Vietnam War. For many years after Hank returned, he worked for a California high-performance auto parts and mechanic shop. And so began his love for fast, high-performance cars. Upon his return home to California following his service, Hank also found that his body temperature had changed and he now needed air conditioning in all of his cars and homes, which his friends and family teased him about, considering he lived only two blocks from the ocean. When he purchased this 1968 Porsche 912 Coupe, it was no different.

Hank took the Porsche to Scott's Independent Porsche in Anaheim, California, for the professional installation of a quality air conditioning unit that still works well. Hank enjoyed this Porsche more than any of his other cars. Hank died unexpectedly in 2011 and left his Porsche 912 to his sister Jackie, the current owner and seller. It has been a difficult decision for Jackie to sell the car, but she doesn’t drive it often enough and knows her brother would want the Porsche to be enjoyed by someone as much as he did.
